O Lugar de Baixo é conhecido pela sua ligação ao mar e pela cultura da bananeira. Estas duas realidades oferecem um contraste fantástico entre a cor azul do oceano e o verde da terra arada pelas pessoas desta bela aldeia.

A casa está localizada numa pequena área residencial, integrada numa área agrícola, o que lhe confere um ambiente exótico, calmo e agradável.
Recentemente remodelada, a casa tem uma decoração agradável e tem um quarto no piso superior, com uma cama de casal e casa de banho privativa. A sala de estar oferece todo o conforto e acesso à área exterior, onde pode desfrutar de bons momentos nas refeições, descanso e lazer. O churrasco é perfeito para fazer as suas grelhas favoritas e reunir a família para um banquete fantástico.
A propriedade tem uma capacidade máxima de quatro pessoas (quarto com cama de casal e sofá-cama para dois na sala de estar).

O BAIRRO VISÃO GERAL
A casa está localizada na zona sudoeste da ilha, no local de Lugar de Baixo, concelho de Ponta do Sol. Situada junto ao mar, a zona de Lugar de Baixo é conhecida pelo cultivo de bananas e por ser um dos locais com maior exposição solar em toda a ilha. Esta área tem todas as condições para umas férias tranquilas de verão, com acesso à praia, que é muito perto da propriedade.
Nas imediações pode encontrar vários restaurantes com comida típica, onde pratos de carne, peixe e marisco estão disponíveis no menu.
A Ponta do Sol e a Ribeira Brava ficam a 2 minutos de carro e a Calheta a 13 minutos de carro. Na Ponta do Sol, Ribeira Brava e Calheta encontrará mais restaurantes, supermercados e lojas locais. Na Calheta pode mergulhar na praia de areia e no museu de arte contemporânea “Casa das Mudas”. Na Ponta do Sol existem também vários restaurantes e uma praia.

O Funchal fica a 25 minutos de carro e o aeroporto a 35 minutos.

Die Unterkunft liegt am Rande einer Bananenplantage, somit hat man von der Dachterrasse einen schönen Ausblick. Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber und sehr schön eingerichtet. Außerdem war sie sehr gut ausgestattet. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können sie auf jedenfall weiterempfehlen.

Die Unterkunft erreicht man am besten, wenn die Geokoordinaten eingegeben werden. Das Auto lässt man bei Anreise besser an der steilen Straße stehen, bevor man das Haus sucht. Es liegt etwas versteckt und ist lediglich über einen Fußweg erreichbar.
Die Küchenausstattung ist eher einfach. Sehr positiv überrascht hat uns der sofortige Kontakt und die direkte Hilfe bei Problemen. In unseren rund 2,5 Wochen Aufenthalt wurde zweimal Wäsche gewechselt und das Haus gereinigt. Das Erdgeschoss ist ohne Beleuchtung recht dunkel, im Obergeschoss sind die Fensterscheiben verdunkelt. Mehr Helligkeit und Ausblick wäre schön. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

House was great , view was incredible, everything was clean , but unfortunately we had unpleasant situation…While we where staying in this house on our last day of vacation without noticing us , some people entered premises of property to cut down bananas , nobody noticed us that this will happened and it was kind of shocking situation we did not expect to see anybody on our territory . I hope next time , when other people will stay there owners will notice them about this kind of business…

Séjour au top dans un environnement plus qu'agréable. La banenerais ajoute un énorme plus.
A proximité du musée de la banane, des grands axes routiers, de randonnée, de restaurants, des plages ainsi que d'une supérette et grande surface a moins de dix minutes en voiture.
Quartier calme, les places de parking ce trouve facilement dans la grande rue.
Les hôtes répondent rapidement aux messages.
Je recommande ce logement, en période chaude les ventilateurs nous ont bien servi, et au vu des commentaires nous avions pris un spray a moustiques avec nous qui nous a bien servi.
Gros plus pour la terrasse de la chambre, avec la vue de la bananerai et de la cascade.
En résumé on ne peut que recommander ce superbe logement! Merci a vous pour cette semaine, on sait où loger si on revient sur l'île.

Fantastically kitted-out apartment/home! The kitchen was amazing to use. It was also nice to have the option of the downstairs patio which is right in the banana grove, or the balcony area upstairs which overlooked the groves and mountain. The host was accommodating with our check-in and check-out times, as well as when I asked for an additional fan. Thank you!

Tip: use the address listed on the An Island Apart website (from the email they send you directly). Getting the address from AirBnB gave us the wrong location in Google Maps

Uns hat der Aufenthalt sehr gut gefallen. Die Lage ist perfekt man kommt an jeden Fleck der Insel recht schnell. Es gab leider keine Klimaanlage in der Unterkunft was an sich ja nicht schlimm ist, aber wenn man am Abend die Fenster aufmacht kommen viele Mücken. Deshalb wären Fliegengitter sehr empfehlenswert.
Die Küche war extrem gut ausgestattet alles was man braucht war da. Die Dachterrasse ist das absolute Hammer, dort kann man sehr schön den Tag ausklingen lassen und hört im Hintergrund den Wasserfall.
Einen kleinen Stand hat man auch 5 min zu Fuß entfernt. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt

Wir hatten 7 Tage Aufenthalt und waren mit allem drum und dran sehr zufrieden! Umliegend sind genug Parkplatzmöglichkeiten vorhanden, um auch flexibel einen Mietwagen nutzen zu können. Auch die Nachbarn waren aufmerksam und nett sodass wir am Ende einen wirklich schönen und auch sicheren Aufenthalt hatten.

Die Unterkunft ist klasse. Wir können sie sehr weiterempfehlen. Besonders die Dachterrasse mit Blick auf die Bananenplatage und Wasserfälle hat uns begeistert.
Erst hat uns das Navi woanders hingelotst, aber bei einem eigenen Blick auf die Karte war die Unterkunft doch gut zu finden. Wer Angst vor bellenden Hunden hat, könnte sich etwas unwohl fühlen, da viele der Nachbarhäuser Hunde haben.

Het huisje is superschoon! Wij verbleven 11 nachten. Na een week kregen we schoon beddengoed, schone handdoeken en keukenlinnen. Parkeren moet in de straat een stukje verderop, maar dat vonden wij geen probleem. Je zit middenin een bananenplantage, dus ja, er zijn wel muggen. Neem muggenspray mee.
We zijn heel tevreden over het huis. Goed bed, veel kastruimte, goede keuken, leuke inrichting. Alles zeer compleet. Er is geen airco, maar wel 2 ventilatoren die het goed doen. Het ligt heerlijk centraal om het eiland te verkennen.
Tip: het bananenmuseum BAM ligt om de hoek. Leuk om van alles te leren over de groei van de banaan. Nog een aanrader: de zonsopkomst op de Pico do Areeiro. Geweldig! En verder de levadawandelingen. Eigenlijk was het hele eiland leuk. Leuk om met de auto de bergen in te gaan. Het landschap is zo afwisselend!
Kortom: wij hebben genoten!

Das Haus war mit allem was man benötigt ausgestattet. Der Blick auf die Bananenplantage mit einem kleinen Wasserfall ist traumhaft. Die Unterkunft verfügt leider über keinen Parkplatz aber man findet ein bisschen weiter weg immer was.

We really enjoyed our stay at oscars House 😊 The location is perfekt and the view from the tarace on the banana plantage was also amazing. The host gave us all the information about the house in advance and it was well equipt and tidy. I can really recommend this AirBnB 🌞

Das Haus ist sehr ruhig gelegen, die Küche gut ausgestattet und die Dachterrasse in der Bananenplantage ist sehr schön.
Leider hatte die Unterkunft für uns jedoch ein großes Manko: der Geruch!
Vor allem das Kopfteil vom Bett (aus Stoff) und die Matratze hatten einen sehr unangenehm penetranten mordrigen und feuchten Geruch. Auch die Küche( Küchenzeile und vor allem beim Öffnen der Schränke) kommt einem ein unangenehmer Geruch entgegen. Das hat uns leider das Kochen in der großen Küche vermiest.

If you want a base to sleep, the house has all you need.

Would not describe as quiet or calm. You need earplugs to block the chorus of dogs who bark, evening, night & early morning.

You need GPS grid numbers to find small lane up to house. You cannot see it from the closest road. Cannot park outside the house. Need nerves of steel parking on 1 in 3 slope if wanting to park closer to house. Had “No stop” note on car.

The images are cleverly taken, all lights on, windows & doors open. You can see the sea, a small triangle from upstairs shower room. ‘Close beach’ is accessible not to swim, ok if surfing. Windows downstairs tinted & look onto banana plantation, initially novel. Windows & door upstairs have permanent obscuring shades. House appears light but is actually dark. Not sure about ‘all the comfort’? Veranda has great view but only direct sun for few hours.

Need insect repellant for the mosquitos.

Not a home, not a place to sit and relax in. A place to sleep, maybe eat.

Really loved my stay here!
Communication was really easy, it was a really clean house and had everything you need :)

Very nice a quiet place with a beautiful view over the banana plantation and onto a waterfall. The place is perfect for two adults and a grocery store is just a 5-10min drive away. Very friendly host and easy parking on the street close to the house. The internet connection is a bit unstable, which is not ideal for working, but perfectly fine to disconnect a bit and enjoy the island. If you wanna work from here, there is a free coworking place in ponta do sol just about a 5min drive away.

Pěkné a klidné místo na banánové plantáži. Zařízení domu. Čistota.

In general we had a good experience and I would recommend the place, but see the comments below before you decide. We have stayed there for 8 days in Dec 2023 (incl. Xmass) and enjoyed the nice hidden and quiet place. It is ideal for 2 people or 2+2kids, not really for 4 adults. Kitchen is well equiped including washing mashine. However there were couple of things we did not like. It is VERY dark in the house - ground floor windows are shaded by the banana trees and walls and all of the windows on the 1st floor are cover by dark foil (why???) so it is constantly dark there. If you want light, you have to go out on the terrace. There is also high humidity there (you can smell mold in the kitchen cabinets) and a lot of mosquitos in the house. BBQ place is nice but you cannot use it without the wood - we have asked for it the 1st day and did not get any in 8 days. The WiFi is slow and unstable.

We had some trouble finding the location, but once we arrived everything was very nice and we really enjoyed our stay in Oscar's House. The view from the balcony was amazing! The rooms were very clean. You have a lot of privacy and the location on the island is good. Perfect for a relaxed vacation in Decembre!

Es war eine schöne Zeit in diesem Haus! sehr sauber, angenehm eingerichtet und sehr groß für 2 Personen. Es ist sehr schön, eine Bananenplantage um sich herum zu haben.
Leider ist dadurch und das die großen Fenster alle nach Norden zeigen, sehr dunkel, mit sehr wenig Tageslicht.
Parken vor der Tür ist auch schwierig, geht aber irgendwie schon.
Darfür ist die Küche sehr schön eingerichtet und es macht Spaß dort zu kochen!!!
Alles in allem... Eine weiter Empfehlung für die, die eine große Wohnung/Haus im Grünen mit schöner Einrichtung haben wollen

Super charming place in the banana plantations. It’s quite remote so you need a car to move around, parking was pretty easy on the street, we always found a spot next to the house. House is very clean, spacious. Wi-Fi was rather poor, there was almost no reception on the terrace upstairs but apart from that great stay!

Das Haus war trotz vieler Beschreibungen/Bilder schwer zu finden.
Mehr Mückenstecker wären prima.
Ein Tablett in der ansonsten super ausgestatteten Küche, wären schön.

The place is beautifully located in the middle of banana trees. It was very clean and spacious. Overall calm and quiet and the check in was very easy. The only negative thing is the parking situation. The parking space recommended by the host was always occupied by locals. Either you have to park all the way down the main road and walk uphill or you try yourself in parallel parking on a very steep and narrow road.

Très agréable maison avec vue sur les champs de bananes, les cascades dans un environnement calme.
Une terrasse au premier étage et un extérieur au rdc très agréable pour manger dehors à côté des bananiers, en profitant pourquoi pas du barbecue!
Maison très propre, avec ménage intermédiaire une fois par semaine avec literie et serviettes changées, et, petite attention qui fait plaisir, un petit bouquet de fleurs fraîches. Tout ceci avec une très bonne communication car vous êtes prévenus par mail et sms.
Très bon équipement globalement, juste pour chipoter il manque des petites cuillères, une essoreuse à salade, et un étendoir amovible pour le linge, pour les jours de pluie (celui installé sur la terrasse du 1er étage n' est pas protégé de la pluie).
Bon emplacement pour visiter toute l' île et profiter des randonnées, de la mer...
En résumé excellent séjour pour un couple. Attention cependant vous êtes dans une zone tranquille et l' accès aux commerces nécessite une voiture.
La chaleur notamment dans la chambre au premier étage malgré le ventilateur. Une climatisation de la maison serait un must.
Les moustiques nombreux...mais ce n' est pas la faute du logement!

Oscar's place was a great option for those looking for a spot in a neighborhood a bit away from the tourist hotspots. There was no air conditioning nor screens in the windows so the bedroom was a bit warm at night. When we opened the windows, too many mosquitos came in. It was also a bit difficult to find. The house is not located directly on the road. You have to park on a different street and then go down a walkway to find the front gate. The house is on a banana plantation which is a lovely setting. The upper deck was lovely with waterfalls coming off and on throughout our stay.

We loved our stay. The house has anything you could ever need on a holiday including fully equipped kitchen. Only 'problem' we encountered that it was superhot in Madeira the week we stayed (up to 38 degrees), it became to hot in the bedroom for a good nightrest, but that would be the case anywhere on the island without airconditioning.

Het huis is zoals eerder al is beschreven. Erg netjes, heerlijk privé, mooi dakterras en beneden bij de woonkamer een overdekt terras. Helaas is de woonkamer wat donker, maar de vloerlamp geeft voldoende licht. Een prima keuken met goede wasmachine. Alles aanwezig om de afwas te doen en de was te draaien. Ideaal, zo kan je als toerist heerlijk van het eiland genieten met veel wandelingen. Op de slaapkamer een ventilator die de warme nachten redelijk koel kon houden. Heerlijke badkamer met (regen)douche. Alles goed bereikbaar met de auto (die moet je daar wel hebben). Kleine supermarkt bij Ponta do Sol. Parkeren kan niet bij het huisje helaas. Iets verder op de berg is een klein parkeerplaatsje waar wij gelukkig elke keer plek hadden voor de auto. Een mooi huisje om na elke dag weer heerlijk in bij te komen. Bedankt en wie weet tot de volgende keer.

The house itself was well clean and tidy and had everything you needed. I think someone should be there to meet you as it was very hard to find and I couldn’t find it myself. After dragging my suitcase (24kilos!) round the very steep roads for 30mims in the hot sunshine I finally found a local builder who knew where it was and he put me in his car and took me there. It’s up a tiny alley way and not signposted. Also the dropped pin I had was not accurate so there was no way I would have found it by myself. The road it is on is very steep and you need to be pretty mobile if you haven’t got a car. Also there are 3 restaurants nearby but no shops. I wouldn’t stay here again without a car as the taxis are very expensive and you have to phone one each time you go out. There is no public transport that I could find. There are no buses that stop there. The house is amongst the banana plants with makes it quite dark. This does mean it stays quite cool however and the upstairs terrace allows you to sunbathe. The only other reason I wouldn’t stay again is the mosquitoes. As you are in the banana trees there are a lot and I got quite bitten. This meant I couldn’t open the windows either as there is no mesh screen on them to prevent the mosquitoes coming in. So I kept the doors/windows shut at all times. To summarise the house is really cute and clean and tidy but no shops and mosquitoes and the very steep road mean I wouldn’t stay again.

Domek dobry dla pary, dobre umiejscowienie na wzgórzu skąd można szybko zjechać do głównej drogi/plaży. Piękny widok z tarasu na pole bananowców i wodospad (ciche poranki przy szumie wody). Domek przytulny i wygodny. Kuchnia ma wszystko co trzeba.
Wszystko się podobało poza lekka wilgocią w domku, przy dobrej pogodzie wszystko schło ale przydałaby się klimatyzacja do utrzymania temperatury. Nie ma parkingu przy budynku ale taki urok, można zaparkować przy ulicy bądź małym placyku max 100 metrów od domku.

Very clean house with nice upstairs terrace and banana field and waterfall view (waterfall sometimes works, sometimes is almost gone). Well equipped with kitchen and grill stuff, blankets. Very good contact with renting company and no problem with check-in and out - everything shown in precise instructions. Nice neighbours.
House is much darker than shown of the photos - many windows are covered with some grey foil and you have to use lamps even during the day. Sofa downstairs used as bed makes terrible sound when you try to change the sleeping position and wakes you up. Parking is "public" and few minutes walking distance - but if you don't have heavy luggage this is not a problem. Also the house doesn't have separate rooms - it is open space.

Ett verkligt högklassigt hus med toppstandard. Ingen sjöutsikt, men väldigt fin utsikt mot klippor och bananplanteringar. Trevliga restauranger på gångavstånd men lite svårare att ta sig till fots till en mataffär.

Sehr schönes Haus mitten in einer Bananenplantage! Haben hier eine sehr schöne Woche verbracht - Unterkunft ist sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet. Nur das Parken unten an der Hauptstraße ist etwas umständlich aber kein größeres Problem - man ist in 7 Minuten von der Haustür bis zur Hauptstraße gelaufen.

Wir waren für 2 Wochen in dem Schmuckstück und es hat sich jeder einzelne Tag gelohnt. Für die Mobilität brauch man definitiv ein Auto aber das „weiß“ man ja eigentlich, wenn man für Madeira plant. Zu Anfang etwas Probleme mit dem Kühlschrank gehabt aber das war sehr schnell geklärt und wurde seitens AIA behoben.

This was one of the best Airbnb’s we’ve ever stayed at! The views are just stunning and you wake up and fall asleep listening to the waterfall. The house is modern and well designed, all appliances are brand new. It was also sparkling clean, it almost felt like no one has stayed there before us. Great communication with the host. Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt. Das Haus befindet sich in einem Stadtteil mit netter Nachbarschaft. Das Haus ist mit allem ausgestattet was man benötigt, die Küche ist gut ausgestattet so das eine Selbstversorgung auch möglich ist. Das Haus war liebevoll eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Nach einer Woche kam eine zwischenreinigung. Als einziges können wir „bemängeln“, dass es Nachts durch die Hunde der Nachbarschaft sehr laut ist. Da es keine Klimaanlage ist muss man mit Fenster offen schlafen.
Im allen ein wirklich toller Aufenthalt!

- Check in und out war unkompliziert, Infos wurden zur Verfügung gestellt
- Die Unterkunft ist extrem dunkel! Auch wenn alle Jalousien offen sind und die Sonne scheint - kein Vergleich mit den publizierten Fotos!
- Der Standort ist nicht gut, in Ponta do Sol gibt es keine wirklich guten Restaurants, kein Shop und auch sonst nichts. Essensdelivery Apps funktioniert keine da kein Liefergebiet. Man ist zwingend auf ein Auto angewiesen.
- Parking an der Strasse, eng und sehr steil
- Badezimmer hat extrem gerochen, der Duschvorhang muss dringend gewechselt werden oder mal ordentlich gereinigt werden

Stay was okay but not really great - the house is very dark, also with all window blinds open. The shower smells really hard, urgently need to change the shower curtain or clean deeply. General cleaning was okay but also not really 100% clean. TV did not work on the first day, but was fixed fast by maintenace.
Apart of this, we wouldnt stay again in Ponta do Sol: no infrastructure, no choice of (good) restaurants, no shop and by the way no delivery app is working as described by you (Nor Glovo, nor Uber Eats nor BringEat - all apps says that Ponta do Sol is not a delivery area!)

Die Unterkunft ist traumhaft! Das Highlight ist die Dachterrasse mit Blick auf die Bananenplantagen und einen Wasserfall, wo wir morgens gefrühstückt haben. Die Wohnung ist sehr modern eingerichtet und bietet viel Komfort eine gute Ausstattung inkl. Grill, Waschmaschine und einem zweiten WC.
Das Bett ist sehr bequem.
Das WLAN ist unten sehr gut, oben im Schlafzimmer manchmal etwas schwach.

Der einzige Nachteil sind die vielen Hunde in der Nachbarschaft, aber das Problem hat man vermutlich in den meisten Orten in Portugal. Mit geschlossenen Fenstern hat man das Bellen aber kaum noch gehört. Das Auto kann man nicht am Haus parken sondern an der Hauptstraße (5Min Fußweg). Von dort muss man an den vielen Hunden vorbei, die meisten bellen/knurren nur, aber einer hat auch nach uns geschnappt (wir haben uns dann zur Verteidigung mit Wanderstöcken “bewaffnet“).

Ansonsten ist die Lage eine super Ausgangslage für viele Ausflüge in alle Richtungen der Insel.
Zu einer Levada Wanderung sind wir direkt vom Haus aus losgewandert (Levada nova).

Wir können die Unterkunft auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen :)

Wir hatten zwei schöne Wochen in Oscars House. Das Wetter ließ etwas zu wünschen übrig. Da wirkte das Haus sehr dunkel, durch die getönten Scheiben. Die Nächte wurden durch das ständige Gebell der Nachbarhunde begleitet- da sollte man nicht empfindlich sein. Das Haus ist sehr modern und gut ausgestattet. Sehr sehr sauber! Der Ausblick von der Dachterrasse einfach schön. Haben erntefrische Bananen von der Nachbarin geschenkt bekommen. Parkplatz haben wir immer an der Hauptstraße gefunden

We were very happy with the house - it was exactly like on the photos, comfortable, clean and nicely designed. The view from the upper terrace is incredible, looking onto waterfalls and banana trees. It was our 4th time visiting the island so we already had a good idea of what to expect and what to avoid. This time we stayed for 4 weeks and there was even an included weekly cleaning service (no extra fees!), which is rare and was very helpful. The position of the house is great in the winter because it stays warm throughout the day and the area around is nicer than expected, with maintained houses and gardens.Because it is the last house before the banana farms, it still feels private.

As we stayed over Christmas, and the team prepared an event for us at the house and joined us with homemade hallacas and liquor which was a really great surprise and something we did not expect from a rental agency (as they often tend to be more anonymous or "not care"). Andre, the agent who welcomed us and was keeping in touch (always available on WhatsApp) was very kind and helpful. So our experience with the house and the team (who also brought us flowers and fresh fruits after the weekly cleaning) was very positive and we would definitely come back.
Internet connection was weak on the upper floor and the terrace. The neighbors´ dogs were sometimes loudly barking.

We had a wonderful time in Madeira at Oscar's house. We came with our 6 year old son in November.

The area is super quiet and beautifully situated. You can't hear anything except the sounds of the crickets. ;-) especially in night time!

And you're really in the middle of the banana plantation. The view from the balcony of the mountains and the plantation is a dream.

It's just as beautiful in real life as it is in the pictures. Clean, modern, new!

The check-in with Andre also worked out wonderfully. He picked us up and showed us everything. He was always available and if something happened he was in touch immediately. He was constantly trying to make sure that everything fits and that we are fine. That was really great!

Be sure to enter the coordinates in the navigation system, not the address you see in the profil, otherwise Google Maps will guide you to the wrong location :-) Andre had to wait a long time for us.

You definitely need a rental car, as the accommodation is not directly in the action and the island has so much to discover. We really loved hiking there.. Never seen such a beautiful nature like this!!

We can really recommend the property to everyone!

Wonderful, modern house. Fully equipped with everything you need and perfect as a starting point to discover Madeira. Communication was quick and easy and they provided us with everything we asked for (new towels, more sheets, baby things) on the same day.
Ask them where to park your car. We did not in the beginning and unfortunately, the neighbor manipulated our tires twice because he doesn't like people to park anywhere near his house...

Дом моей мечты! Вид на пальмы и водопады. Все супер, мы жили неделю, пожалели что не остались тут на весь период отпуска. Это лучший дом, самый крутой сервис и компания. Мы ехали от аэропорта мин 30, ночью сразу нашли дом, безконтактно заселились. Обратите внимание, что поздний заезд бесплатно, есть компании, которые берут 30 евро сверху. Понравилась чистота в доме, уборка через 3 дня и замена полотенец, белья. Был стиральный порошок, капсулы для посудомойки, свечи, кофе, вся техника и посуда, мангал во дворе, телевизор с подключенным сервисом, быстрый интернет. Без проблем парковались на бесплатных парковках недалеко от дома (по главной дороге чуть выше дома, 2-3 минуты пешком). Отличный дизайн и декор, все продумано для вашего отдыха! Оскар хаус и фирма an island apart лучшее!

Absolutely lovely stay in a great house, would very much recommend to anyone wanting an escape and a base to explore the beautiful island. The house is just as advertised and the balcony is beautiful, very secluded and gets the sun all day so great to relax/sunbathe on. An Island Apart were very responsive and helped us locate the house in first instance too.

It is much quieter than in Funchal and so it is a nice escape but you will likely need a car to explore the island and go to restaurants in the evening. One recommendation would be to ensure that you rent a car well in advance as the cars on the island can get booked up and so the prices go up too! Whilst we did use public transport, the buses from Oscar's House to Funchal are relatively infrequent (3 times a day) and take an hour or so and so it is much easier with a car or if not order a taxi using either the Bolt app or the Taxiin app if you plan to have a drink too. Exploring the island much easier with a car and so much more freedom in your day if you have one, just don't be surprised if you need to use 1st gear to get up the steep hills!

We very much enjoyed eating at Zino's palace which is a 2 minute walk from the house (we went 3 times). The staff there are all friendly, the views are great and the food was really tasty - it was often quiet too and you can just walk home afterwards so definitely give it a go.

Other things to do: Pico de areiro to Pico ruivo for sunrise walk, a dolphin tour (VIP dolphins), the wine tour (Viator), buggy adventure (trail4fun), piscinas naturais (sunnier than Porto Moniz) and loads of other walks, viewpoints and adventures but you'll have a great time either way and ddefinitelyrecommend An Island Apart and Oscar's House

A nice place beyond the banana trees ! The house is cosy, quiet and has all the necessary ! It's close to restaurants and the location makes it easy to reach any place in the island. It can ben tricky to find so here are the GPS coordinates : 32°40'52.5"N,17°05'20.1"W.

Very nice place with space both inside and outside! Enjoy the barbecue present next to the kitchen and ground floor terace. The use of dried banana leaves to start the barbecue is just wonderfull. We had a lovely stay with beautifull views from the bedroom terace!
The place was clean, well stocked in terms of basic needs (pepper, salt, vinegar, oil, coffee, toilet paper, washing powder and dishwasher tabs)
When you arrive and have the impression not to find the house, take directly next to the house 4 the little alley and the house is located a bit further at number 4, confusing when you arrive but you get to a nice place once you open the gate.
A little further up on the main road, the one before you turn left to reach the house, is a free parking further uphill on your right. When you get home after your walks it is downward to the house, in the morning it prepares your legs for your walks!
Having two toilets is nice as it avoids a fight when coming home after the windy roads of Madeira.

the company who is running the place does not care about you, the only time we had good communication was when they were asking for our payment We had issues with the cookstove and wanted to hear how to operate it but instead we were notified to look into THE drawer which did NOT contain any reference as to how we could operate it. We were also advised that there is a cell number we could get in touch with the company but only a Portuguese answering service replied and we left our phone number never to be called. The instructions to reach the Oscar house was only good if you had a taxi driver bring you there and not if you have a rental car and need to find the steep-sloped and narrow entrance to the AirB&B needless to say we did not have a parking space and needed to park our car on the street down from the house we rented.

We really enjoyed the house. It's not the easiest to reach (need to get used to the steep streets and parking there), but the terrace is absolutely amazing and the house very cozy.
We were there for 3 weeks and really enjoyed it! At one point we had a problem with the shower, but it was resolved he same day by the staff! <3

This is a great place to live😍 and we spent 5 weeks here. Centrum of Ponta do Sol is just 5minutes drive away. For us it was the most wonderfull town on Madeira. The house is modern, clean and well equipped, was getting cleaned every week during our stay. The only small downside was that the house is a litle bit dark inside during winter months. We have been remotely working here for 1 month - the quaranteed internet speed was (according to the owner) 12down/8up mbit, but in reality we often measured around 40/30 mbit during the day. But sometimes it dropped too. We will come back for sure!

We loved, loved, loved this house. It's surrounded by banana plants in a quiet neighborhood near the ocean. We found everything as described, it was super clean, stylish and cozy and if we had'nt had so many rainy days we would've used the terrace (upstairs and downstairs) for our breakfasts. The view to the back is outstanding! We recommend renting a car in general for your stay, it helps you get around quickly and reach hiking spots in your own sweet ime. If it weren't for the comments here we would've taken longer finding the exact address. The house is in Lugar de Baixo. The nearest supermarket is in Ponta do Sol, directly at the traffic circle where the gas station is. They have freshly baked bread that you should really try! Parking at the house is a little adventurous when you're not used to steep streets. You can park the car on Estrada de Santo Antonio but if you continue to drive a few meters up there's a parking place that is free of use for everyone. Communication with the host was always transparent and fast and we felt in good hands at all times. Can't wait to be back!

Brand new, very clean apartment with plenty of amenities. When the weather is nicer I’m sure the balcony and patio are lovely. There is no parking but on most nights we easily found a spot on the street. Be aware that the address on Airbnb is not correct: it’s actually 10 min by car away and it took us a bit to find it. Getting the keys from the safe box was also problematic but the host sent someone to sort it out ASAP.

Sehr schönes Haus inmitten einer Bananenplantage. Auf der unteren Terrasse frühstückt man direkt neben den Bananenstauden, auf der Dachterrasse hat man einen herrlichen Blick, über die Bananenstauden hinweg, auf einen Berg mit kleinen Wasserfällen. Das Haus ist optimal gelegen und bietet alles was man benötigt. Es ist alles an Elektrogeräten vorhanden und abends kann man schön gemütlich auf der Terrasse grillen. Wir waren mehr als zufrieden und konnten uns super erholen. Vielen Dank, wir kommen in jedem Fall wieder!
Es war alles perfekt. Erwähnenswert ist vielleicht dass das Haus keinen eigenen Parkplatz, eine Parkmöglichkeit ist ca 2 Minuten entfernt. Uns hat es nicht gestört, für den ein oder anderen mag es wichtig sein.

This place is incredible.

We stayed in Oscar's place for 5 nights after moving from Funchal.
It's not the easiest to find as the name of the street didn't exactly match the address but we called the managers and they were very helpful.
The house is situated in a quiet area called Lugar de Baixo which has a few restaurants by a rocky beach and a steep ascent to Ponta do Sol where you get some amazing views and it's only a half hour walk to an incredible levada walk.
The area is surrounded on all sides by banana trees and there are even some on the house's private garden.
The house has two outside areas one with dining facilities and a barbecue area and another with insane, unobstructed views of the banana farms and the cliff face which has a couple of little waterfalls coming down it. It's really something special.
The kitchen is brand new, very well stocked (everything you could hope for except cheese grater) and the house itself is very stylish with a large en suite bedroom with a really comfy bed.
If you're looking for really special tranquil place then look no further.

NOTE: You'll struggle to get around here without your own car.

Don’t look at other stay, book this one! Seriously!
All in all It’s pretty quite, it’s a bit hidden, but it’s perfect if you want a relaxed home. It’s in the middle of banana trees and has an outstanding view from the upper terrace. We loved the breakfast up there in the mornings.
The kitchen is quite good equipped and the bathrooms were really clean!
The location is perfect, it’s 30-40 minutes by car, to every end of the island and there are shopping opportunities within a 3 min car ride.
Oh and try the restaurants down by the ocean, it’s worth it!
If we come back, we would definitely book this one again!!

Beim Nachbar in der Estrada de Santo Antonio, sollte man aufpassen. Dieser möchte nicht, dass man vor seinem Haus parkt. Hat uns auch die Luft aus einem Reifen gelassen.

Maison design tout est superbe impeccable et très bien située. Pas de parking privé mais possibilité de se garer à 5 minutes à pied.

This house is all you could wish for, and more! The house is pretty, big, nicely decorated and the two terraces are amazing. It’s calm but close to the beach, in a nice neighborhood and overal just great for a calm holiday in Madeira. Best if you have your own car because there’s not a lot of public transport in the area.

Das Ferienhaus ist wirklich super! Es ist total gemütlich und extrem gut eingerichtet, wir haben uns wie zu Hause gefühlt. :-) Die Terasse mit Blick auf die Bananenplantage und kleine Wasserfälle ist der Hammer. Es ist auch sehr ruhig und man kann sich gut erholen. Die Küche ist toll ausgestattet mit allem was man braucht. Es gibt eine Waschmaschine, Spülmaschine und eine kleine Grundausstattung (Salz/Pfeffer/Essig/Öl/Kaffee/Zucker/Waschmittel/Spülmittel/Spülmaschinen Tabs). Da wir länger als eine Woche dort waren, wurde nach 6 Tagen einmal geputzt und die Bettwäsche/Handtücher gewechselt. Diesbezüglich haben wir einen Tag vorher von Travel To Madeira Bescheid bekommen, wann dies geschieht.
Insgesamt war die Kommunikation mit Travel To Madeira sehr gut, wir hatten immer das Gefühl, einen Ansprechpartner zu haben.

Die Unterkunft selbst ist wirklich (!) schwer zu finden, aber wir haben uns zum Check-in mit einem Mitarbeiter von Travel to Madeira an der Hauptstraße getroffen, der uns dann hingeführt hat.
Ein Mietwagen ist auf jeden Fall sinnvoll. Wir konnten unser Auto fast die gesamte Zeit auf einem Parkplatz einer Nachbarin parken. Falls dies mal nicht möglich ist, gibt es immer freie und kostenlose Parkplätze unten an der Hauptstraße.

Die Unterkunft liegt nicht direkt in Ponta do Sol, sondern in Lugar de Baixo. Dort gibt es in Laufnähe (5 Minuten) drei Restaurants und einen Steinstrand. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt es entweder in Ponta do Sol direkt am Kreisverkehr bei der Tankstelle (Amanhecer: kleiner aber gut ausgestatteter Laden) oder in Ribeira Brava (Continente). Wir wären gerne auch mal nach Ponta do Sol zu Fuß gelaufen, aber einen guten Weg gibt es wahrscheinlich nicht. Entweder muss man durch den Tunnel oder über den Berg (dauert ziemlich lang!!).

Mit dem Auto kommt man wirklich recht schnell überall hin. Aber wir haben die Wanderungen an der Levada Nova und Levada do Moinho (Rother Wanderführer Madeira Route 11 und 12) sogar vom Ferienhaus aus gemacht. Dabei muss man zwar erst mal recht steil den Berg hoch laufen, aber das war trotzdem gut möglich.

Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen! :-)
