Esta casa encontra-se numa zona central privilegiada, mesmo no coração da cidade do Funchal. A 15 minutos a pé do Mercado dos Lavradores e da Zona Velha do Funchal, a partir daqui poderá explorar a pé os diversos pontos turísticos da nossa bonita cidade. (ex. Teleférico, Marina do Funchal, Museu CR7, Sé Catedral, Madeira Wine Lodge, etc…)
TRANSPORTES
Com paragem de autocarros na imediações (cinco minutos de distância), os transportes não serão problema para os nossos hóspedes.
Para partidas e chegadas do aeroporto, há uma paragem de aerobus a cerca de sete minutos da casa, embora que a melhor opção para chegar ao apartamento será o transfer. Peça-nos para marcar um com os nossos parceiros locais. É mais barato do que os táxis que encontra no aeroporto!

The doors were always locked by a pin code, and on the first day, we couldn’t lock them properly. However, after contacting the owners, they responded quickly and fixed the issue.
A couple of days before leaving, water started dripping from the ceiling in the shower. Something had happened on the second floor. After informing the owners, they offered to move us to another apartments, but since we had already spent almost a week there and were tired from hiking, we decided to stay. It didn’t bother us that much.
The next day, a similar issue occurred in the kitchen. The owners assumed it was due to rain, but it hadn’t rained that much in Funchal.
Owerall it was a good stay!

Appartement fonctionnel et très propre avec passage du service de ménage pendant notre séjour . Très bonne isolation phonique avec la rue.

The apartment was really cool and easy to get into. I like the layout of the apartment. I could have a relaxing morning tea while my daughter slept. I also like not having to carry a key with me all over the place.
The bathroom could have looked cleaner if the mold on the grouting around the shower stall was cleaned. It gave a grubby feeling.
The air conditioner also stoped working twice but I was able to contact the host. The temperature also didn’t cool down to 17 degrees. We keep waking up feeling really warm and the room turned stuffy.
The shower - it stated of super hot then slowly got warmer and colder so even when the dial was all the way to the hot side - still cold water. Had to get in and out really quickly.

Apartament 1C nie powinien być udostępniany dla gości. Drzwi do łazienki nie dało się zamknąć, był problem z framugą, co powodowało dyskomfort, trzeba było korzystać z łazienki przy uchylonych drzwiach. Obsługa nie reagowała na nasze zgłoszenie problemu. Sofa na której spała trzecia osoba, była zarwana i niewygodna. Wielkość apartamentu raczej na 2 osoby, przy rozłożonej sofie ciężko było się poruszać.

The apartment has a sofa bed in the lounge, unfortunately this is not comfortable to sit on and tries to unfold itself.
The bathroom door would not close properly, this has been mentioned to the manager now so hopefully will be fixed soon.
All in all, a good location and fine for a few days.

Il phon non funzionava, il lavandino in bagno è davvero eccessivamente piccolo, ma sono solo dettagli. Peccato manchino una lavatrice e uno stendino, altrimenti sarebbe un appartamento da 10/10.

here are a list of things i didn't like:
the appartement needs maintenance, there is mold in the bathroom, the shower leaks to the bathroom floor and there is not enough ventilation for the whole appartement. it smells moldy.
the hairdryer needs to be replaced beacuse it does make a strange noise and it smells like burn.
the sheets were not clean, the pillow cases were yellow and you could see stains from the matress.
i got a bad skin rush in both of my arms during my stay for 2 days here (after a week visiting the whole island, so i let you do the math).

Die Wohnung ist schön sauber, jedoch ist in unserem Bad Schimmel gewesen. Für die kurze Zeit störte uns dies nicht groß, jedoch wäre es trotzdem deutlich schöner ohne.
Ansonsten ist die Ausstattung top sowie der Kontakt mit dem Kundenservice.

There is a huge problem with black mold. Didn’t notice it on arrival, so must have had a very fresh coat of paint, the next morning the mold had bled through the fresh paint job. Also, I would never put TP in a toilet in Portugal, being very aware of the standard rules of no paper in toilets. But we had to fill the toilet bowl to flush toilet with each use, it wouldn’t refill. Not a very good stay! Only there a couple days, and Madeira was super cool and made up for the not so comfortable stay. I won’t post pictures of the black mold at this time, but hope owners read this post and address the very serious issue.

El apartamento asignado además de estar situado muy bajo (ruidos de la calle) no estaba en óptimas condiciones, especialmente la ducha del baño que perdia agua por debajo y por ello tenía la puerta dañada. Y ya se sabe a usar las toallas que después habíamos de limpiar en el cuarto común.

There was a large patch of mould in the bathroom, which went right up the doorframe. We also later found some behind the air conditioner, which meant it was pushing our the spores when it was on. There was multiple mosquitos in the room when we arrived, which meant we got bitten many times during our stay. The door with the code was also difficult to use, as it didn’t always lock properly. Cushions were lumpy and poor quality. The whole place seemed like it was a bit run down, although it was clean (with the exception of the mold)

El deterioro del marco de la puerta del baño era desagradable por presentar moho negro y pudrición, filtraciones de agua en el suelo y riel de la cortina roto (fue reparado un día después de nuestra llegada tras llamar) Inadmisible que se entregue un apartamento para ocupar con estos deterioros tan evidentes. Nada puedes hacer porque no había posibilidad de cambio. Además la suciedad debajo de la cama era abundante: mucho polvo y restos sólidos

Nachteil war definitiv Nachts die teilweise extreme Lautstärke durch Urlauber, Autos, Gastronomie und einem Mitbewohner über uns, der immer nach 22 h meinte, er müsste seine Wohnung komplett umräumen... Der schob dann wie wild seine Klamotten hin und her. Das war schon - vorsichtig ausgedrückt
- sehr seltsam...
Die Fenster waren zwar gut, aber trotzdem war es sehr laut. Ohropax habe aber ein wenig geholfen.
Vorteil: Aufzug! Moderne Einrichtung, Kaffeemaschine, die wir aber nicht benutzt haben (löslicher Kaffee hatten wir gekauft).
Rolläden an den Fenstern oder bessere Vorhänge anbringen.
Abfluss im Bad lief relativ schlecht ab.
Das Wasser war bei der dritten Person nicht mehr heiss zum Duschen.
Schimmel im Bad beseitigen.
Schlechte Parkplatz Situation.
Für das Parkhaus direkt um die Ecke haben wir über Nacht 30,- € bezahlt.

The noise. I was super unlucky to have upstair neighbours who chose to move their furniture from 7am up until midnight every fricking day. I have contacted the manager of the apartment about it who promised to speak to them but that did not bring any change of the behaviour so I have spent most of my stay wearing earplugs. Not ideal. Also the street this apartment is located on is quite busy (especially during the weekend) so you need to consider that as well.

Services shared for rubbish and washing machine very good.
Host available by phone or txt, great English.
There some small issues which we contacted the host about they sorted them quickly for us.
The office across from the window meant we had the curtains pulled for privacy a lot.

We had an issue with the shower and it got solved straight away after texting them.
The only negative thing is, that it is really loud outside day and night (as we had the 1st floor, windows to the street).

Slechtzittende slaapbank.
Koud water in keuken en douche. Ik denk dat boiler defect was. (wel kleine financiële compensatie voor gehad)
Hard dichtklappende voordeur van gebouw.
Communicatie niet altijd adequaat.

We could only shower in afternoon/evening as the hot water seemed to take a while to wake up!
The flat is managed by remote control. We had a couple of minor issues (faulty door handle and no toilet rolls) which were dealt with within 24 hours, but communication was confusing (lots of different numbers) and impersonal.

There are a few small cosmetic repairs that could be done, but beside that it is very cozy and I felt very comfortable during my two-week-stay.
The service of An Island Apart is also very good and fast. One day after I reported an issue a service employee was at my door. Thanks for having me!
Due to the narrow street in front of the house it can be quite loud in the apartment. This may be important for people who also have to work during their stay. But the windows are quite good and keep most of the noise outside.
No possibility to park your car except for a parking garage.

Apartment is located on a busy street, so there is quite a lot of noise coming from the street. Even at night (around 23:00) either street cleaning or dustmen can surprise you with some noise.

In January it's cold at night. The heating stopped working on second last day. They did not fix it. They did not put in a temporary heater (eur20 at Carrefour). Just 'sorry'. That's not enough. We paid more at time of booking to have heating. They didn't provide the heating. But also did not respond to our request for partial refund (to compensate for us having to buy small heater). In our book not OK. If we pay for something, we expect to get it. It's not reasonable to pay for something and not get it.

There was another building a few meters away from the windows of the flat, so we didn't see much more than the building across the street. It was dark and there were mosquitos day and night, that we could not deal with, no matter what means we tried. It was also extremely noisy even at night - the restaurant downstairs, people in the street, construction work and garbage trucks - all next to you and the noise stopped only in the early mornings.

- Located in a narrow but fairly quiet just one lane downtown street, close to various nice to very good eateries. However, no parking slots for rental cars close by. Nicest little park of Funchal around the corner.
- Access directly by foot, taxi (dozens of them just around the corner) and car. At daytime by car just for mounting and dismounting due to the one lane in front of the house.
- Cleanliness was perfect however one of the bathroom sewers was smelling which is hard to get rid of I know. The fan couldn't solve that problem totally.
- Appliances like modern washing machine and dryer as well as detergent were in the house. The modern air condition just blew towards the bed. TV just cable which made it hard to find acceptable stations.
- Kitchen is equipped with all basics besides a dishwasher. Eating table with four chairs. Mattress seemed new and firm.
The largest (and for me only) con: Management, i.e.:
- Owner obviously didn't file an early mail explaining our arrival and question concerning the offered transfer to the airport. Instead I got several mails just before the trip asking for the arrival. Airport transfer hadn't been reserved either.
- A day before arrival I tried to contact the given phone number. The lady called back and promised to send an SMS when to check-in which I had to ask for once again in the evening.
- Having shown up at the apartment at the given time the named contact person wasn't there and didn't answer her phone either.
- After calling the management again they gave me the entrance codes to the house and the apartment and another lady showed up about 20 min later for doing the check-in.
