Appartement résidentiel dans un quartier calme de Funchal avec le centre commercial de l'autre côté de la route. La mer et la promenade sont accessibles à pied.
SE DÉPLACER
L'arrêt de bus se trouvant pratiquement à la porte, le transport ne posera aucun problème à nos hôtes. Pour les départs et les arrivées à l'aéroport, l'arrêt d'Aérobus le plus proche est à environ 5 minutes.
N'hésitez pas à nous demander un marquage de transfert en taxi avec nos partenaires locaux. Moins cher que les taxis que l'on trouve à l'aéroport !

Veuillez noter qu'une taxe touristique sera facturée à toutes les personnes qui passent la nuit dans la municipalité de Funchal. Ainsi, tous les clients séjournant dans des stations touristiques et/ou des établissements d'hébergement, âgés de 13 ans ou plus, devront payer 2,00 € par personne/nuit, jusqu'à un maximum de 7 nuits et un maximum de 14,00 € par personne/séjour. Die Straße ist sehr laut. Der Verkehr ist auch Nachts sehr laut und auf dem Balkon kann man aufgrund des Balkons nicht so sehr entspannen.

Building is next to a very busy street, so there is much noise coming from the street if balcony window is open. There is also issue with hot water supply - hot water can suddenly change to cold during the shower and then you need to wait for few minutes to get back hot water.
Beds should be replaced. Mattresses are fine , but bed frames look old and very used.

L’appartement est très confortable et très bien situé . Néanmoins l’isolation est à revoir car très proche d’une grande rue et le bruit est très présent de 6h à 23h …
Nous aurions aussi aimé plus d’instruction pour trouver le parking car nous avons cherché très longtemps à notre arrivée…

There's also a great Chinese restaurant around the back of the apartment.
The instructions for the waste disposal route was a bit vague, we had to ask one of the other residents where to go.

Perfect place for short and long stays. Comfortable, clean, well-equipped apartment, ideal for 4 people (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room). Beautiful view from the terrace to the ocean, everything is just like in the pictures. The location is also perfect, there is a shopping center, restaurants, cafes nearby, and the ocean is a few minutes' walk away. The host was helpful, flexible and fulfilled all our requests. I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone.

Spacious apartment, covering over 100 square meters, featuring a living room, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms, making it ideal for up to 4 guests. It boasts a great location, in close proximity to numerous restaurants and the Lido promenade, along with a wide range of apartment amenities and private parking in an underground garage. Additionally, the Forum shopping center is conveniently located across the street.
I will recommend the apartment to friends.
Negative:
In fact, there is just one significant downside, and it is the street noise. The building is located on a very busy street, and the street traffic noise can be heard all the time. It is especially loud when the windows are open. Take into consideration that when the weather is hot, the windows need to be open, as there is no air conditioning in the apartment. But I consider it a matter of personal tolerance. For me, it is a problem. For someone else, it might not be.
There are also other negatives, but I consider them as temporary issues. I have reported them to the host, and they promised that they will be resolved. I consider them as constructive feedback to make the stay in the apartment better for the next guests. They are as follows: (1) spare towels are not available (yes, there is a washing machine, but while the towels are washing, you are without towels); (2) the window cannot be opened in the master bedroom; (3) there is no ventilation in the toilet without a window; (4) there is only one hanger in the bathroom; (5) no one asked us whether we arrived and were successfully accommodated; (6) the location of the street entrance to the garage was not provided; (7) a welcome drink, at least water, could be provided, especially for late-arriving guests; (8) the wooden table and chairs on the balcony could be replaced as they are old and cumbersome.

Good location - it was easy to get to Funchal city and near facilities (restaurants, shops, etc). The only inconvenience was the street noise, but it's a natural problem in such an area. Good contact with rental team.

The apartament is fantastic, well-equipped and near everything. There is a Shopping Centre opposite it, where you can buy whatever needed!
Having your own parking place is important, knowing that won't be a problem is surely a plus!
The building is recent, quiet and neighbours friendly.

Die Lage ist zwar sehr zentral, allerdings durch den Verkehr auch in der Nacht und am frühen Morgen sehr laut. Aufgrund fehlender Klimaanlage ist es dadurch sehr schwer, bei geschlossenen Fenstern zu schlafen.
Die zwei Ventilatoren konnten da nicht helfen.
Die Betten sind durch die Inkontinenzunterlagen sehr schwitzig.
Der Fußboden ist außerordentlich schmutzig, man bekam sofort schwarze Füße.

Wij waren met z'n 4 en er waren 3 tuinstoelen waarvan de kussens helemaal kapot waren, daar kon je echt niet op zitten.
Afijn, onze verblijf was verpest dus, hier nooit meer.

Po příjezdu jsme potřebovali někam zaparkovat auto, ale neměli jsme informaci, kde je vjezd do garáží a ve schránce byly pouze klíče od ubytování. V lokalitě se špatně parkuje, takže jsme museli chvíli parkovat na poměrně rušné silnici. Vjezd do garáží je na druhé straně apartmánu a dálkový ovladač od vrat byl na stole v apartmánu. Uvítala bych ovladač ve schránce spolu s klíči a informaci, kde se garáže nacházejí. Po vstupu byl apartmán divně cítit, v povlečení jsem našla dlouhý vlas, toalety nebyly nejlépe vyčištěné a sprcha v druhé koupelně se nedala moc používat, protože oknu které bylo hned naproti chyběla šňůrka na stahování rolety (hned vedle je balkón). Co nám ale nejvíc znepříjemnilo pobyt byl ruch nejen v nočních hodinách. Navíc se pravidelně mezi půlnocí a druhou hodinou ranní kolem apartmánu proháněla vytunningovaná auta a motorky a jelikož okna apartmánu vůbec netěsní, tak nás to vždy vzbudilo. Přímo pod okny apartmánu (2. patro) také často jezdí autobusy, takže jsme nemohli mít ani otevřená okna, protože bychom se udusili. Apartmán nemá ani klimatizaci, takže tam při zavřených oknech začalo být po chvíli opravdu horko. Takhle málo jsem se na žádné dovolené ještě nevyspala.

Road noise was enough to drive you mad! Ants were everywhere. We mentioned this on the first day but nothing was done until the second week (and that didn't work). Deck furniture needed replacing. Linens were poor.

We had good correspondence with Island Apart. The airport transportation they arranged for us was very good.
The apartment is big, and well laid out. The WiFi is good (not great).
The kitchen is well equipped. Large refrigerator is a nice thing to have. The freezer section caused minor problems.
The living room furniture is comfortable. There is a large table and four dining chairs (which could use some attention). Along with this are two casual chairs. There is a large (68 inch) Samsung TV that has many non-English channels as well as a few English-speaking news channels. We found that it is easy to plug our laptop in to it and watch channels that we can obtain. It also has a large coffee table.
The deck off the living room is a nice size. It faces RUA PONTA DA CRUZ LOJA E. This is a busy, noisy street. So, spending time outside is a test of patience. There is a wooden table that desperately needs replacing, as well as four chairs. The sun umbrella is great in mornings when the sun really beats down on the deck.
The view from the deck is nice. Looking to the left one sees Estrada Monumental (probably the busiest street in Funchal). Also, in this direction the Forum Mall.
The ocean view is to the right and it is fairly nice.
The main bathroom is large by any standards. Everything functions well. This is with the exception of the shower, or in reality, the hot water. It seems that you can get about 2 minutes of hot water then it goes cold (for about 1 minute). In a typical shower (curtain needs replacing), for me, I would run out of hat water about 3 times. Just a mention here that the linens in this flat are of very poor quality (or just worn out).
Both bedrooms are a good size with lots of storage. The king-sized bed is very comfortable.
If noise doesn’t bother you, this apartment would work well.

We rented this apartment for four weeks during summer 2021 with the idea that we would work remote and take a day off here and there as work allowed. Having spent a significant amount of time working and living in this flat we believe that we are qualified to give a fair review of this flat and what it is like living in the area.
If you do not feel like reading and want to go straight to the point: We do not recommend that you rent this flat for any stay that exceeds a couple of days.
If you want the longer version, read on!
We want to start with the positive, so let's just start with saying that the flat itself is really nice.
The layout of the flat is great. You have a combined hall and living area that connects to the balcony, with a dining table and TV-hangout and a, to be honest, fantastic sofa. From this combined hall/living area you have a corridor that connects to the first of two bathrooms and the separate kitchen (which has its own balcony) and the follows the two bedrooms. The layout worked perfectly for us two and I imagine it would work perfectly for four people or so without stepping on each other's toes too much. The flat has a great kitchen with everything you need and we enjoyed cooking there. The bedrooms are large but there is no AC. Instead, there are normal fans available. We kept these on all the time, also during the night, and we felt that, on balance, if had known, we would have likely gone for air-conditioning during the nights rather than not. The bathrooms are also great. There is some wear and tear in the flat that you will see if you start looking but nothing overly much. The balcony is overlooking the crossing and the road just beneath it. You have sea view from the balcony as well, which is always nice, and you have morning/midday sun. The wifi is also fine.
All of this is overshadowed by the extreme noise-level in the flat. We live in central Stockholm and we have our fair share of noise normally from the everyday traffic and general noise that comes with living in a city, but we were not prepared for the extreme noise in this flat. We kept the windows and balcony door closed at all times, and even then, we heard the noise. Why is the flat so loud? Well, all of the windows, and the balcony, face the roads surrounding the flat. The main road into this area of Funchal is right in front of the flat. In other words, all the traffic, including heavy trucks used to transport goods to and from construction sites in this part of town and joy-riding motorbikes, pass right outside the flat. To make matters worse, just outside the windows from the kitchen and one of the bedrooms, there is a pedestrian crossing to the mall across the street. This pedestrian crossing is made out of cobble-stone. So, there is cross-over from asphalt to cobble-stone right outside the flat. Now, imagine the sound any vehicle makes when it goes in relatively high-speed from asphalt into cobble-stone. Now imagine that you have the immediately outside your bedroom and kitchen, all day, all the time, including during the night. And beneath the balcony you have a road leading up the T-crossing. I have personally never thought about the extra noise generated by a road with an incline leading up to a crossing. Well, now I have thought about it quite a lot. Right beneath the balcony, and right beneath the master bedroom's window, there is a steep road leading up the crossing. The road itself is quite popular, with a local bus route going there and with quite a few takeout delivery people with motorbikes going up and down. All these vehicles accelerate on this road. They first accelerate to get up the road, and they then stop at the crossing, and then accelerate again into the crossing. Now, imagine listening to (old) buses accelerating up a hill and the high-pitch noise of motorbikes for several hours, and you have captured the situation on the balcony perfectly. And, as there is nothing to stop the noise from going through the open balcony door to the flat, all of this noise is in the flat all the time. To be fair, you can close the windows and the balcony door and it will be somewhat more silent. The noise is so bad that we actually woke up several times at around 5 a.m., when the heavy commercial traffic starts.
For this reason, we do not recommend renting this flat. Spend your valuable vacation in an enjoyable, quiet, place. There should be lots of these places available in the area. If you are just staying for a few short days, or over the weekend, and you are not very bothered by noise, then, however, this flat may be a good alternative for you.
An Island Part
On a side note, we rented this from An Island Apart. Our stay ended one week short and an Island Apart refunded us our remaining nights and paid out extra compensation for there being road works performed outside the flat for the entire duration of our stay. So, An Island Apart will likely help you in the end if you have any issues. Of course, An Island Apart did not tell us about the construction work in the first place, so if you consider renting with an Island Apart we suggest that you explicitly ask them if there are any such circumstances you should know about before renting. They did early on try to help us finding an alternative accommodation, and they did find one and offered it to us. An Island Apart did not block the flat from being rented out for any period of time, however, so when

The only thing wrong was that someone forgot to left us the keys in the safe box, and it was 2am in the morning. It did solved out, the owner was great. Very noisy, a lot of cars passing by at night.

Die Aussicht vom Balkon aufs Meer ist traumhaft.
Die Reinigung wurde statt 2x nur ein einziges Mal durchgeführt.
Beide Balkone waren bei der Ankunft schmutzig, die Kaffeemaschine hatte keinen Tropfschutz.
Das Appartement liegt an einer stark befahrenen Straße. Vor allem die Motorräder waren in der Nacht sehr laut.

The apartment is amazing. Just like on the pictures. Or even better.
Great porch outside to be enjoyed duirng sunny and warm days. Super close to the ocean and the Forum Madeira shopping mall. About 15 min ride to the old city of Funchal.
Apartment comes with a parking lot.
Andre was very helpful, responding very soon to all my messages and questions.
Highly recommended place!

We have had a few small hiccups but overall the apartment is nice and comfortable. Very busy road. If you are a light sleeper the place is not for you. I struggled a lot.
Dona Nina restaurant at the back of the complex, is a good place for a lunch/dinner.
We did not meet Andre directly but communication was excellent and always ready to help you.

centrally located, with a shopping center just in front. We had a great meal at Dona Nina, a restaurant in the lower level of the apartment complex.
Being a busy street, cars and construction can be heard at all times which can be hard at night, especially since there is no A/C (it can get very hot at night despite having been provided a cooling fan).
We did not meet Andre the host, but did not have any problem with the communication with him.

The apartment was however a smelly. The smell of dog, which was difficult to get rid of and I smelt it each time I entered the appartement. The 2 bedrooms are situated at the side of the busy road, so you hear that when you are in bed.
Personally I did not like these 2 things very much.
For the rest however it was very good. The kitchen is big and has everything you need except for a dish washer. The communication was overall very quick and good too.
We appreciated staying here.
