Country house located in São Jorge, on the north coast of Madeira, set in an area of pure natural landscape, with sea and mountain views. This is a traditional Madeiran-style property with a concept of sharing spaces. It offers a pleasant outdoor space with a dining area, in a serene and relaxing atmosphere.

Your stay at Casa da Fajã Alta includes breakfast, served in a large space shared by all guests. Separately, it offers 7 bedrooms, each with capacity for 2 guests, all with private bathrooms.
The garden welcomes visitors, with a dining area and areas conducive to leisure time. The enchanting landscape reveals the majesty of the mountains and the unmistakable beauty of the Atlantic sea.

AREA
The municipality of São Jorge, located on the enchanting island of Madeira, is a region that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, history and local traditions. This town is about a 45-minute drive from the centre of Funchal.
There are many tourist attractions in this area, but one of the most striking attractions, the Ponta de São Jorge lighthouse, offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. The imposing cliffs and unique rock formations create a picturesque setting for nature lovers. The Church of St George is a religious building of cultural interest with charming architecture. Visitors can explore the interior of the church, admire the sacred art and learn about the region's rich cultural heritage. Another point of interest is the Núcleo Primitivo da freguesia de São Jorge, in Calhau de São Jorge, which houses the ruins of sugar cane mills built at the beginning of the island's settlement. The Vigia viewpoint and Levada do Rei are also two places to visit during your stay at Casa da Fajã Alta.
GETTING AROUND
The best option to get to the property will be the transfer. Ask us to book one with our local partners. It is cheaper than the taxis you find at the airport.
If you rent a car, any navigation app can easily find the address.

You have access to all areas of the property.
INTERACTION
We are always available to help or answer questions. We do our best to reply all requests. We also have an app for guests with all the important information about the property and other useful information for your stay.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (passport or identity card).
- Check-in hour must be scheduled in advance. If it is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours before, guests will be subject to the availability of our team.
- All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also put a baby cot, a high chair and a baby bath if needed, but you should request. There are a first aid kit, extinguishers and fire blanket in the property.
ATTENTION
We inform that a Municipal Tourist Ecotax will be charged for person staying overnight in the municipality of Santana.
All guests staying in tourist developments and / or accommodation establishments, aged 13 or over, will be charged 2,00€ per person/night, up to a maximum 7 nigths stay/ 14€ per person. Close to your arrival, you will receive the link to pay this fee.

Een zeer nette accomodatie met een prachtig uitzicht in een rustige buurt. De kamer was heel ruim en netjes. De bedden waren gigantisch groot! De omgeving is prachtig en het personeel uiterst vriendelijk. Het ontbijt was ruim voldoende en werd verzorgd geserveerd. Je kon gebruik maken van de gemeenschappelijke keuken met frigo.
De bedden waren extreem hard en de ramen hadden enkel glas waardoor we de regen wel fel hoorde en de kou er wat door kwam. Je hoort wel wat er in de accomodatie gebeurd dus als je wat pech hebt met je buren, kan je wel eens moeilijk slaap vatten.

What a beautiful place, the common areas and gardens were so well decorated! The outside balcony was such a delight to sit in and enjoy the view.
Our room was very large, spacious and was also facing the view. Perfect place for a quiet getaway.
Definitely recommend driving to this stay, I'm unsure of how you would reach it otherwise. Free parking just on the street outside of the building.
Breakfast was freshly made, there were a few typical options (bacon and eggs, yogurt, cereal etc.) and also cake!! It was very nice to eat in the dining area, I would recommend the breakfast option. Otherwise, there are a few towns you can drive to within 10 minutes for shops/restaurants.

This was a beautiful place to stay in a cool old building that is extremely well maintained. The two people that work their daily ensure everything is always cleaned and well maintained and are happy to accommodate any requests you have. They cook breakfast in the kitchen, but the fridge is communal so you can store items for lunches or leftovers from dinners during your stay. Over all I highly recommend this place!

My partner and I spent a few days exploring the northern part of Madeira and were really glad that we picked this accommodation! It’s located between the mountains with a wonderful ocean view. It’s a quiet and peaceful area which we appreciated a lot. The staff were so friendly and helpful and made us a great breakfast each morning which fueled us for the daily hikes. :) I would recommend having a car if you’re staying here to get around easily, they offered free parking outside the house. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Es war ein wundervoller Aufenthalt - die Angestellten waren wirklich sehr aufmerksam und sehr zuvorkommend.
Am Abend haben sie immer gefragt ob wir ein Glas Wein wollen und haben sogar Snacks dazu gegeben.
Zum Frühstück haben sie immer nachgefragt ob alles zu unserer Zufriedenheit war.
Es waren wunderschöne Tage auf Madeira.
Alle Ziele konnten wir mit dem Auto ganz leicht erreichen und ein Parkplatz war immer vor der Türe frei.
Nach nur 5 min mit dem Auto, ist ein riesen Einkaufszentrum.

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt in der herrlichen Umgebung und dem liebevoll geführten Haus! Das Zimmer war groß und geräumig, und das ganze Haus hat sehr viel Charme! Staying at Faja Alta House was overall a great experience. Extremely recommend it, if you’re looking for a calm and peaceful place to relax and rest your head. Birds chirping will wake you up, crickets and frogs will calm you into sleep.
It’s located on top of a steep hill, in the mountains, but you can still see the sea.
Rooms are very big, comfy beds, bathroom clean.
There could be more stowage.
Communication with the host was easy via SMS and Mail. Instructions to get there and into the house were clearly communicated.
I was surprised by the warm welcome of the two women, who work there (Sonja and Maria). They showed me around, explained everything, helped me with my bags and gave me great local recommendations! It’s located on top of a steep hill, in the mountains, but you can still see the sea.
Rooms are very big, comfy beds, bathroom clean.
There could be more stowage.
Communication with the host was easy via SMS and Mail. Instructions to get there and into the house were clearly communicated.
I was surprised by the warm welcome of the two women, who work there (Sonja and Maria). They showed me around, explained everything, helped me with my bags and gave me great local recommendations! The variety of the included breakfast and their service was outstanding and the girls were always down for a chat!

Пол был грязным. Но спасибо по просьбе его хорошо помыли на следующий день. Всю ночь стукали решетки на окне у соседей так громко что иногда просыпаешься. Об этом нужно говорить людям чтобы те захлопывали их на замок. Потому что ночью у соседей никого не было, и открыть их дверь чтобы это сделать мы не можем.
Завтрак приемлемый, персонал очень вежлив и добр.

Quiet place with large rooms, traditional house with a view at the sea, rooms miss a good seating place. My room didn’t had WiFi. The care taker (who was wonderful) said she would send a message to organisation to solve it. Care taker Linda is very friendly and helpful, she makes lunches to go if you want. The beds are large but very hard. The place is very clean and crisp.

The guesthouse is in the Mountains in the north of Madeira - the view to the Mountains and the sea is stunning 🤩 you can calm down and relax there. We defentively recommend a rental car for your Madeira Visit.

Our experience at the Casa da Faja Alta was amazing.
The breakfast was totally enough, variable every day and super delicious.
The room was excellent, clean and they even refreshed for us our room every day if we would like that.
The surroundings and the view seemed like a tropical paradise.

Dom położony w cichej odległej dolinie. Do sklepu i restauracji trzeba jechać samochodem. Przestronny stary dom po częściowym odnowieniu. Pokoje ubogie w sprzęty. Skromne śniadanie, pierwszego dnia nawet nie było wody i soku, brak warzyw ale jest za to świeżo pieczone ciasto.

Nie wietrzone pomieszczenia, w całym domu zaduch i zapach starości. W części wspólnej zbieranina mebli i ponury wygląd. Bardzo słaby internet a tak naprawdę jego brak. Brak też zasięgu co powodowało utrudnienie w planowaniu wycieczek. Ponieważ to start działalności tego domu jest wiele niedociągnięć. Trzeba było bardzo długo spuszczać wodę aby zaczęła lecieć ciepła woda (mało ekologiczne) a i tak nie zawsze była ciepła.
