This apartment has 3 bedrooms, offering every comfort to accommodate up to 6 people. The configuration of the bedrooms includes 3 double beds.
It also has 2 bathrooms with showers. One of the most notable features of this space is the private balcony, from where you can enjoy wonderful sea views.
For added convenience, the apartment also offers a parking space. The apartment can be accessed by elevator, making this property accessible to all guests, regardless of mobility.

AREA
Situated in one of the most prestigious tourist areas of Funchal, this apartment is close to a pleasant promenade, beaches, supermarkets, pharmacies, stores and the Forum Madeira shopping centre, which has several international brands and movie theaters.
Nearby there are several bars and restaurants where you can delight yourself with our gastronomy or with international cuisine. Besides the nearby options, you can go to Funchal city center (seven minutes by car) where you will find a larger variety of restaurants.
Praia Formosa beach is about five hundred meters away from the apartment, perfect for diving and sunbathing on the pebble and black sand.
GETTING AROUND
The best option to get to the property will be the transfer. Ask us to book one with our local partners. It is cheaper than the taxis you find at the airport.
If you rent a car, any navigation app can easily find the address.
There is a bus stop 2 minutes walk from the apartment.
ACCESS TO PROPERTY
You have access to all areas of the property.
INTERACTION
We are always available to help or answer questions. We do our best to reply all requests. We also have an app for guests with all the important information about the property and other useful information for your stay.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (passport or identity card).
- Check-in hour must be scheduled in advance. If it is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours before, guests will be subject to the availability of our team.
- All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also put a baby cot, a high chair and a baby bath if needed, but you should request. There are a first aid kit, extinguishers and fire blanket in the property.
ATTENTION
Please be advised that a Tourist Fee will be charged to all persons staying overnight in the municipality of Funchal. Thus, all customers staying in tourist resorts and/or accommodation establishments, aged 13 or over, will be charged €2.00 per person/night, up to a maximum of 7 nights and a maximum of €14.00 per person/stay. When you arrive, you will receive a link to pay this municipal tax.

Free cancellation up to 14 days before check-in. If the reservation is made less than 14 days before check-in, the cancellation is free up to 48 hours after the reservation, up to a maximum of 5 days before check-in.
After that, guests may cancel up to 5 days prior to check-in and receive a refund of the price per night and the cleaning fee, but not of the service fee.

It's a bit tricky the first time finding the location as it's tucked in under the main road., but that makes it nice and quiet.
It's good to be met and shown how everything works. Good communication when we needed it.
Showers are a bit tired but plenty hot water and clean towels.
Five minutes walk down to the waterfront where you can walk in peace in both directions.

We are sorry for the disturbances at night and the lack of air conditioning, unfortunately we cannot control the street movement, thank you for acknowledging the fans. We are also addressing the cleanliness issues and will work with our housekeeping team to ensure that such lapses do not occur again.
We have not received any communication from you view the reserved channels for this.
Regarding the checkout process, we will re-evaluate our instructions to ensure they are practical and clear. We will also provide more detailed directions and local recommendations to enhance our guests' experience.

- the fans they provide smell of dust or mold, despite the office saying they are new
- you are a bit farther away from the beach than you would think from the pictures; not a huge deal but ~ 6-10 minute walk since you have to follow the road down the hill
- the wi-fi is flagged on apple products for poor security; just as an FYI
- it is extremely confusing and difficult to find the location
This is just a short list of some of the inconveniences, which make this location less desirable than we initially thought.
The biggest inconvenience was when we were told that the building was going to be shutting off our water all morning till early afternoon. An Island Apart does not own the building and said the maintenance was out of their control. While this is understandable, there was a complete lack of understanding or consideration from An Island Apart. After saying they would look into the matter, they stopped responding to any and all future messages of mine, which reflects pretty poorly to say the least.
If you are coming to Madeira to relax and be comfortable, give your money towards places and people that actually care about your time on the island. Future travelers should stay away

Regarding the maintenance issue, we understand how disrupting that experience can be and apologize for any inconvenience. Although some factors are beyond our control.

The accesses without a car is not friendly. Especially for old people. There's nothing at an easy walking distance.
Upon arrival we waited for the host to bring us the key but there was no previous inspection of the apartment before check-in. There were no personal washing assets (bodygel, shampoo or soap) in any of the toilets. Each of the toilets had an used toilet paper and that was it. In the kitchen there was salt and coffee. When we contacted the host (Joana) about it, she mentioned that she would speak with the cleaning team to find out what happened. We thought that someone would bring some soap or something. But it didn't happened. Even when they came for the intermediate cleaning, they didn't bring anything.
For the check-out, we asked if there was any place that we could leave our luggage for 1h30, since the check-out time was at 12 and we would leave to the airport at 13h30. We're talking about 3 people with 80 years old average age, with 3 heavy suitcases. We were told that there was no place to leave the luggage and that was it. I explained the situation. 3 old people, heavy luggage and 1:30 of waiting time that would be used to have lunch. Not the most convenient thing, carrying those heavy luggages from one place to the other. I suggested if the suitcases could be left inside of the apartment and we'd get it at 13h30 (so that the cleaning team could clean the apartment). Joana replied that she would have to speak with the reservations department but there was never a reply. We ended up doing what we suggested because if someone doesn't reply, it's because they agree, right?!
We didn't feel that service was their main goal. The funny think is that they have this platform, with everything so organized and loads of automatic messages, but then they forget how human interactions are needed and valued.

Das Thema Sauberkeit hätte besser sein können. Bei Ankunft waren die Scheiben der Dusche verkalkt und die Lüfter im Bad verdreckt. Das WLAN hat in den hinteren Zimmer und defacto nicht mehr funktioniert.

What we liked:
The location - the picture makes it look isolated but it's actually very well located for the sea front, Sao Martinho (cafes, shops, restaurants), and Funchal.
The apartment - we actually found it more impressive in person than in the pictures, the view is fantastic and you get a sunset over the sea every day. Stormy days are equally as impressive.
What we felt could be improved:
Check-in - we felt the communication was poor despite keeping the host informed of our ETA, and accessing the property was unclear (the GPS location although accurate was unhelpful for accessing the property's compound).
Facilities - generally well equipped but it would really benefit from a few basic cleaning products (and a kitchen bin).

In summary, great apartment which would benefit from a few tweaks. On communication we did actually ask about staying for several weeks again in January but didn't hear back from the agency.

La situation géographique de l'appartement appréciable, car plage accessible à pied.
L'accès aux commerces très facile, mais un peu éloigné sans voiture.
La vue sur le littoral exceptionnelle.
Notre séjour ne nous a laissé que de très bons souvenirs.
Le retour à l'appartement chaque soir était très apprécié, le bruit des vagues berçant nos soirées.
