Fully restored property, traditional Madeiran house style, with a concept of sharing spaces, integrated in a space of pure natural landscape, located in Tabua, Ribeira Brava, about 20 minutes from Funchal. Pleasant outdoor space, serene and relaxing atmosphere, with lovely gardens, swimming pool, organic vegetable garden and zen space. Breakfast included.
Traditional Madeiran house recovered and integrated into an area of pure natural landscape, with rustic decoration, comfortable environment and a concept of sharing spaces that will make you feel a family environment. Ideal for a relaxed holiday in contact with nature… at any time of the year.
The Solar dos Reis has a large common area for all guests, kitchen and living room. Separately, it offers five bedrooms with heating, double bed or single bed, mini bar, private bathroom with shower and direct access to the exterior. Maximum capacity for 2 persons per room.
The garden welcomes visitors. As you walk through it you reach the heart of the house, where you will find a patio whose central area is occupied by the main house, small corners, comfortable seating areas and access to the rest of the property's surrounding space. The pool (heated) and its views dazzle in all their fullness. Enjoy the zen space and exercise in the open air, visit the organic vegetable garden and walk the mini footpath (natural reflexology therapy).

AREA
Solar dos Reis is located in the west of the island (the area with the most sun exposure in Madeira), in the parish of Tabua, municipality of Ribeira Brava, in an area bordering the municipality of Ponta do Sol.
Explore some of the interests closest to the house, such as the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Chapel. This chapel was a reconstruction of the old chapel of the same name, destroyed in the flood of 1696. Next door to the house is also the famous Levada Nova, where you can explore on foot and enjoy the breathtaking views of the western part of Madeira Island. Close to the House there is also a link to Paul da Serra via a dirt road, which you can take a jeep ride on, where you can explore for a more extreme experience.
There are other tourist attractions to explore during your stay at Solar dos Reis: the Miradouro do Espigão, Ribeira Brava (viewpoint), MUDAS - Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Madeira (Calheta), Ponta do Sol beach, Madeira Ethnographic Museum (Ribeira Brava) and more.
Funchal is about a 20-minute drive from the Solar dos Reis.
GETTING AROUND
The best option to get to the property will be the transfer. Ask us to book one with our local partners. It is cheaper than the taxis you find at the airport.
If you rent a car, any navigation app can easily find the address.
ACCESS TO PROPERTY
You have access to all areas of the property.
INTERACTION
We are always available to help or answer any questions. We do our best to reply all requests. We also have an app for guests with all the important information about the property and other useful information for your stay.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (passport or identity card).
- Check-in hour must be scheduled in advance. If it is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours before, guests will be subject to the availability of our team.
- All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also put a baby cot, a high chair and a baby bath if needed, but you should request. There are a first aid kit, extinguishers and fire blanket in the property.

The privacy was perfect. We felt as though we had the place to ourselves. The pool was gorgeous and the grounds were very well maintained. Bed linen was very comfortable and of fine quality. The breakfasts were ideal and filled us for a few hours. Finally, the staff were friendly and gave you privacy. Very very nice stay.
Location is mountainous, so of course you will need a vehicle. For us this was known and not an issue.

Nicely set and renovated property. Quiet place for good rest with nice mountains views and on Nuova Levada track. The pool was nice and of good temperature. The timed breakfast was simple but tasty, although we missed vegetables.
The stone house where we stayed was of comfort compromises. It’s a duplex studio with bed and cabinets for clothes up to steep stairs, while kitchen, bathroom with toilets small folding sofa, dining table and TV are on ground floor. The door was very noisy (scraping against the floor) and lastly, the stone house feels a bit damp. Value for money was lower compared to other accommodations during our stay on the island.

We loved our stay here so much we plan on coming again and staying here once again. It was very clean and the room was cleaned daily with fresh towels. We loved the breakfast, and how friendly the host and all the staff were. One of the best pools we have ever used, and the surroundings were beautiful up in the mountains, super peaceful. You will need to drive or have a taxi booked, it's not walking distance from the town, it's quite a hike back up but it's perfect for a nice daytime hike in the surrounding areas. There's a little cafe/shop a 3 min walk up from the airbnbfor coffee/snacks/water/drinks but you do need to go down the mountain for more groceries/restaurants. We can't recommend this place enough, honestly one of the best places we've ever stayed in. Great hosts, location and stay!

Unser Gastgeber war der coolste und süßeste überhaupt, absolut freundlich und hilfsbereit. Er hat sich das schönste Airbnb/ Zuhause dort in den Bergen, mit Blick aufs Meer aufgebaut was wir in unserem ganzen Urlaub gesehen haben. Alles war super modern und wunderschön und wir haben uns direkt wohlgefühlt und die Ruhe genossen. Sehr nette und saubere Unterkunft in den Bergen. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt in dem Studio (Zimmer inkl. Küche) sowie der wunderschön gepflegten Gartenanlage sehr genossen. Das Studio ist geräumig und bietet mit kleiner Küche auch die Möglichkeit selbst zu kochen. Das Schlafzimmer befindet sich in einem halboffenen ersten Stock, den man jedoch leider nicht ausreichend lüften kann. Wir haben es sehr gemütlich gefunden, aber für die meisten Nächte zu heiß und stickig.
Die Unterkunft liegt in einer ruhigen Umgebung, die perfekt zum entspannen am Pool einlädt. Die ruhige/ abgelegnen Lage macht es jedoch notwendig ein Auto zu mieten, da jeder Weg (Einkaufen, Essen gehen, etc.) mit dem Auto zurückgelegt werden muss. Alles in allem, haben wir die Lage abseits der Touristenmassen, als Rückzugsort, sehr genossen.
Die Unterkunft liegt in einer ruhigen Umgebung, die perfekt zum entspannen am Pool einlädt. Diese Kritik betrifft nur das Apartment-Haus Nr. 7. Dieses separate Haus ist im EG mit Küche, Schlafsofa und Bad gut ausgestattet. Auf der Empore (OG) befindet sich der Schlafbereich mit Bett und Schrank. In diesem Schlafbereich befindet sich ein Fenster, welches sich baulich nicht öffnen läßt. Somit besteht keine Möglichkeit der Durchlüftung was dazu führt, dass sich die Luftfeuchtigkeit anreichert und nachts die Hitze nicht abziehen kann. Der Komfort beim Schlafen ist ungenügend. Der Verwalter hat nach meiner Beschwerde einen zweiten Ventilator und einen Luftentfeuchter aufgestellt. Mit insgesamt zwei Ventilatoren und einem Entfeuchter nachts zu schlafen ist nervig. Bevor hier keine bauliche Lösung zur Lüftung geschaffen wird, ist von einer Buchung dringend abzuraten. Der Verwalter war sehr bemüht zu helfen. Offensichtlich war ihm der Mangel jedoch bewusst. Nochmal, betrifft nur das Apartment-Haus, nicht die Zimmer.

I booked this place for 3 nights but decided to leave right after checking in. Below, I describe why:
- The space is much smaller than it appears in the photographs.
- The ventilation inside is poor, especially on the second floor where the bed is located. There's no way to open a window to get some fresh air.
- The location is in the middle of nowhere.
- I can't say it's really clean.
So, you end up with a "cute barn" that costs a considerable amount of money.
Furthermore, during negotiations about the refund, the host initially told me I would get a refund for 2 nights. However, after I left, he changed his mind and only refunded me for 1 night. And airbnb support didn't help me with that.

This a picturesque property among the mountains and beautiful nature of Madeira. The property is very well-kept with great attention to detail. Danilo was an amazing and friendly host, and it clearly shows that he has a long experience in this industry and that he knows what he is doing. We had a very lovely conversation with him on the day of the check-out.
Our studio apartment was very cosy, spacious and homey.
The outside heated pool looks amazing, however, we did not have time to use it.
The accommodation also had a parking space for each apartment.
It would be great if insect screens (nettings) are installed for all windows and doors to prevent flies, mosquitoes and other insects from coming.
Breakfast is great and tasty but it does not change from day to day, and thus might become a bit boring for people staying for more than a couple of days. I would recommend having some changes such as in cold cuts and cheeses offered.
It was a bit challenging to find the property on Google Maps due to some confusion with a property having the same name. Hosts mentioned that there are plans for a slight change in name which should solve the issue.

We really enjoyed our stay at the house. The people working there are really nice and friendly. We always felt welcome and the breakfast was good as well. We had a little bit of bad luck with the weather. Due to the fact that it’s up in the mountains, the weather was very different from the seaside. That’s just a point to consider - it was often cloudy so we could not really enjoy the pool as often as we wished. But the pool itself and the whole place was great. We were really surprised that the place was cleaned everyday and you could get new towels every day, that was very nice. It gave you the feeling of an hotel-stay.

Die Unterkunft entspricht absolut den Fotos, welche auf booking.com zu sehen sind.
Um flexibel unterwegs zu sein und eine leichte Anreise zu haben ist ein Mietauto für diese Unterkunft empfehlenswert.
Von hier aus kann man super gut die Insel erkunden.
Wir hatten das Familienstudio mit eigener Küche. Hier war auch alles notwendige vorhanden um selbst zu kochen, wenn man das mag.
Der Schlafbereich war im "1. stock", wobei dieses nicht über eine extra Tür zum unteren Bereich getrennt ist.
Täglich gab es Früchstück von 7-10h. Die Auswahl vom Früchstück ist klein gehalten und wenn man kein großen Anspruch darauf legt, kann man zufrieden satt werden.
Der beheizte Pool ist angenehm warm gehalten mit einem wundervollen Ausbilck!
Wir kommen gerne wieder zurück.
Leider gibt es im oberen Schlafbereich kein Fenster welches sich öffnen lässt um Frischluft hineinzulassen. Dadurch wird es nachts recht feucht und stickig. Somit hat auch unsere Kleidung über die Tage eine gewisse Feuchtigkeit angenommen.

Casa dos Reis is an absolute hidden treasure, well located mid-island within easy access of Funchal, coastal towns and mountain walking. It is situated in a very beautiful and peaceful spot off a quiet road that heads up into the mountains, yet only 10 minutes drive from the sea and island express-way. The apartments are well appointed and very clean, and are serviced each day. Danilo is a wonderful host - nothing is too much trouble for him and he is attentive in a very discrete and non-intrusive way. The pool area is lovely with stunning views down the valley and the all-inclusive breakfast is a really nice addition to wake up to. This was our first trip to Madeira and we stayed at Casa dos Reis for five days. We did not want to leave and will definitely book to return.

Local lindissimo, calmo no meio das montanhas. Local para estacionar o carro. Acolhimento em pessoa, com o sorriso! Acesso a piscina aquecida. As crianças ainda puderam usufruir mesmo em horas tardias. Quarto grande e com todas as comodidades. Gosto do conceito de podermos preparar as refeiçoes no local, mesmo se pessoalmente nao tivemos tempo de usar. O pequeno almoço com tudo o que é necessario, produtos frescos e de qualidade. Boa organizaçao. A hora da partida foi antes das 7h e mesmo assim tivemos direito a pequeno almoco, que nos foi de proposito preparado e deixado na sala. Muito obrigada pela atenção. Partimos com a sensaçao de sabor a pouco, quando regressar-mos à Madeira, regressaremos à Casa dos Reis sem hesitação.

The place looks and feels brand new and it’s very beautiful — even better than in pictures (if you’re interested, ask the hosts about the building, it’s been recently renovated — you can find it’s old pictures hanging in the common area).
It is located outside of busy area, off the beaten path, in a very peaceful surroundings, yet very close to anything you might need (for instance, one of levada walks starts 1 minute walking distance from this place, closest beach is reachable within 10-15 minutes by car).
The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful and try to make sure that you have a great experience at their place.

Wir hatten eine sehr gute Zeit auf dem schönen Landgut mit Pool! Für meine Tochter wurde fürs Frühstück sogar glutenfreies Brot besorgt.
Wir hatten das Apartment Nr 7, welches mit kleiner Küche und Empore ausgestattet ist.
Hier wäre es sinnvoll, wenn das obere Fenster zu öffnen wäre. So war die Luft oben schlecht und warm, die Kleidung feucht.

Our stay at the hotel was perfect, it is very peaceful and the staff are amazing. We received a very warm welcome and were given help to navigate around the island. We had a great breakfast and had lovely chats with the staff everyday. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a quiet getaway with beautiful views.

This is a true guest house where we felt welcomed as if we were family. We spent the last 4 days of our Madeira trip at CASA DOS REIS and loved it. The place was great for us. Breakfasts are delicious and abundant, the staff is lovely, kind and helpful. They all went out of their way to make our stay a special one. We got to rest, enjoy the sun. I did morning yoga by the pool. My 2.5 yr old was confortable exploring around. Its a quiet restored house up in the mountains, where you get to choose if you want to interact with others or just enjoy your time alone. Danilo and Luisa are sweet and very generous hosts -we shared good conversations and moments together. We definitely recommend it and would love to come back. Thanks for the wonderful stay!
I was a bit confused with getting there the first night as there is another property in madeira called CASA DOS REIS TABUA and thats further to west. Make sure you go to CASA DOS REIS BY AN ISLAND APART.

We had a lot of privacy and the atmosphere was very comfortable. The owners were extremely kind and welcoming, overall a great experience as it is only 6 minutes away from the sea
