Fully restored property, traditional Madeiran house style, with a concept of sharing spaces, integrated in a space of pure natural landscape, located in Tabua, Ribeira Brava, about 20 minutes from Funchal. Pleasant outdoor space, serene and relaxing atmosphere, with lovely gardens, swimming pool, organic vegetable garden and zen space. Breakfast included.
Traditional Madeiran house recovered and integrated into an area of pure natural landscape, with rustic decoration, comfortable environment and a concept of sharing spaces that will make you feel a family environment. Ideal for a relaxed holiday in contact with nature… at any time of the year.
The Solar dos Reis has a large common area for all guests, kitchen and living room. Separately, it offers five bedrooms with heating, double bed or single bed, mini bar, private bathroom with shower and direct access to the exterior. Maximum capacity for 2 persons per room.
The garden welcomes visitors. As you walk through it you reach the heart of the house, where you will find a patio whose central area is occupied by the main house, small corners, comfortable seating areas and access to the rest of the property's surrounding space. The pool (heated) and its views dazzle in all their fullness. Enjoy the zen space and exercise in the open air, visit the organic vegetable garden and walk the mini footpath (natural reflexology therapy).

AREA
Solar dos Reis is located in the west of the island (the area with the most sun exposure in Madeira), in the parish of Tabua, municipality of Ribeira Brava, in an area bordering the municipality of Ponta do Sol.
Explore some of the interests closest to the house, such as the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Chapel. This chapel was a reconstruction of the old chapel of the same name, destroyed in the flood of 1696. Next door to the house is also the famous Levada Nova, where you can explore on foot and enjoy the breathtaking views of the western part of Madeira Island. Close to the House there is also a link to Paul da Serra via a dirt road, which you can take a jeep ride on, where you can explore for a more extreme experience.
There are other tourist attractions to explore during your stay at Solar dos Reis: the Miradouro do Espigão, Ribeira Brava (viewpoint), MUDAS - Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Madeira (Calheta), Ponta do Sol beach, Madeira Ethnographic Museum (Ribeira Brava) and more.
Funchal is about a 20-minute drive from the Solar dos Reis.
GETTING AROUND
The best option to get to the property will be the transfer. Ask us to book one with our local partners. It is cheaper than the taxis you find at the airport.
If you rent a car, any navigation app can easily find the address.
ACCESS TO PROPERTY
You have access to all areas of the property.
INTERACTION
We are always available to help or answer questions. We do our best to reply all requests. We also have an app for guests with all the important information about the property and other useful information for your stay.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (passport or identity card).
- Check-in hour must be scheduled in advance. If it is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours before, guests will be subject to the availability of our team.
- All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also put a baby cot, a high chair and a baby bath if needed, but you should request. There are a first aid kit, extinguishers and fire blanket in the property.

We absolutely loved our stay! This charming building is situated in the mountains, located in a peaceful and quiet area. The surroundings of the house are very well kept and clean. Our room was cleaned daily, and the bedding and towels were fresh and clean. Every day, we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with warm buns, fresh orange juice, and eggs. If you enjoy mountain temperatures (😉) you can also take a dip in the charming, picturesque swimming pool. Everything was fantastic, and I highly recommend it!

Our stay at Casa dos Reis was absolutely amazing! The host was incredibly welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. We stayed for 7 days and felt very comfortable. The room was cozy and clean. Freshly prepared breakfast was served daily in the shared kitchen and living room. In the evening we used the kitchen to cook for ourselves. We liked the clean pool with the amazing view. The host was very kind and the service was quite nice. I highly recommend Danilos housing!

Excellent acommodation. Host Danilo was very helpful the whole time, whole staff was very welcoming and friendly. Everything was superb - the heated pool, the wonderful location, fresh breakfast, room was kept very clean and tidy. This was a superb location for my two week stay for exploring the island by car. Schönes Zimmer, ruhige Lage. Frühstück qualitativ gut, jedoch nur kleine Auswahl (nach 10 Tagen doch sehr eintönig). Sehr freundliches Personal. Die beschriebene Gemeinschaftsküche/Wohnzimmer ist eigentlich die Küche der Vermieterin, dadurch hat man sich beim Kochen etwas unwohl gefühlt, da man von der Familie beobachtet wurde. Die geplante Selbstverpflegegung war demnach nur eingeschränkt möglich.

Nous avons passé un super séjour !
Merci à Danilo et sa femme des hôtes très accueillant qui on était au petit soins avec nous et toujours disponible.
La maison est incroyable, rénover avec goût nous avions un accès à la cuisine,salon librement ainsi que la piscine avec une vue magnifique de madère, notre chambre étais au dessus de nos espérance hyper cosy avec tout le confort disponible.
Merci encore à vous et si nous revenons à madère nous repasserons à coup sure chez vous

Daniello was a great host … recommended a couple of cracking restaurants and an excellent local supermarket…. We loved the infinity pool and the keep fit machines…. His breakfast was spot on and his smiling wife Luisa made on stay very memorable…. I will recommend it to you and my friends!

Danilo was very helpful. We loved our stay here. Breakfast was very nice and the great way to start the day. The property is beautiful and well maintained. I would stay here again. It’s located pretty close to a nice beach town ponta do sol where you can swim and watch the sunset.

Ons verblijf was zeer aangenaam. De locatie is rustig gelegen in het groen, de kamer was prima en het ontbijt zeer lekker. Elke dag vers fruit, eitjes, yoghurt, broodje met beleg, … Wij verbleven echter 10 dagen in de accommodatie en hadden iets meer afwisseling bij het ontbijt verwacht. Verder niets op aan te merken.
De hosts zijn zeer vriendelijk en makkelijk bereikbaar. Deze plek is zeker een aanrader voor wie een huurwagen heeft!

Our stay was very pleasant. The location is quiet in green surroundings, the room was fine and the breakfast very tasty. Fresh fruit, eggs, yoghurt, bread with toppings every day... However, we stayed in the accommodation for 10 days and had expected a bit more variety at breakfast. Nothing else to complain about.
The hosts are very friendly and easily accessible. This place is definitely recommended for those with a rental car!

We had a lovely stay with Danilo and his family. They were helpful, with recommendations of what to do and where to go. The house is so lovely, our room was spotless, and the pool was so nice after hiking. The kitchen is everything you need to cook, and breakfast each morning was great. Would definitely recommend staying!

This really is a hidden gem. The setting is stunning against the backdrop of the mountains. The heated pool is the perfect place to return to after a morning hike. The rooms were clean, comfortable and beautifully finished. Danilo and Eva were both so friendly and welcoming. The whole place has such a beautiful energy. Will definitely be returning!

Amazing place in a stunning location. Not far by car to the best spots on the island. The house and surrounds were very pretty and everything was very clean. We had everything we needed and it was useful to have the kitchen available to use if we didn’t fancy going out to eat. There was also lots of choice for breakfast in the morning which set us up nicely for the day. The best part was being able to come back to relax by the pool after a long days hike! Thanks to the owner for making us a refreshing poncha!

Wir waren sehr zufrieden. Wir wurden nett empfangen und das Apartment war super sauber. Wir hatten ausreichend Platz für unsere Sachen. Das Badezimmer war ebenfalls sehr sauber.
Das Frühstück morgens war sehr gut und man hatte eine schöne Auswahl. Es gibt direkt vor der Unterkunft Parkplätze. Von der Unterkunft aus sind alle Ziele auf der Insel in unter einer Stunde erreichbar.

Wir möchten uns hier noch einmal ganz herzlich für die wunderbaren Tage bedanken, wir haben uns wie zu Hause gefühlt. Das im Mietwagen installierte Navi hat kurz vor Ankunft etwas die Orientierung verloren aber Goxxxle-Maps war sehr hilfreich. Parkplätze sind vor der Tür. Wir sind von Danilo Reis sehr herzlich empfangen worden und er hat uns unser Zimmer gezeigt und alles erklärt. Der beheizte Pool ist wunderbar,die Lage ruhig und erholsam, das Zimmer für unseren Geschmack wunderschön eingerichtet und supersauber. Beim Frühstück kann man die anderen Gäste kennenlernen und es fühlt sich an wie bei Freunden. Alle sind sehr lieb und hilfsbereit. Die Küche ist mit allem ausgestattet. Am Pool kann man wunderbar entspannen,die Anlage ist sehr gepflegt. Wir sind sehr froh,dieses Haus gefunden zu haben! Vielen Dank

Stay in this Airbnb was a really good choice. We stayed one week. Breakfasts were really good with hot bread and enough food to start a day. Room was good, everyday cleaned which was a very big plus! Quality vs Price here is extraordinarily! Highly recommended to everyone.

Casa dos reis is an absolutely incredible place. It is such a beautiful and well kept property with gorgeous, tastefully designed rooms. The owner and staff are incredibly kind, welcoming and accommodating. The daily breakfast was fantastic and it was also nice to have access to the kitchen and a mini fridge in the room.
If you are driving there I would recommend looking up “Casa dos reis” in maps rather than using the link provided on Airbnb. For some reason the link took us to the wrong location.
Overall wonderful place, we will definitely be back!

Les propriétaires nous ont très biens reçu dans le domaine de Casa dos Reis. Ils ont été très agréables tout au long du séjour, toujours prêts à se rendre utiles pour améliorer notre expérience ! Le domaine se trouve un peu en hauteur de la ville , en toute intimité mais proche des commodités (en voiture).
La propriété est très bien entretenue, la piscine est magnifique, eau chauffée. Les chambres étaient rangées chaque jour. Les serviettes changées chaque 3-4 jours. Et des serviettes mises à disposition pour la piscine.
Le petit déjeuner proposé est très complet, avec boisson chaude, boisson froide, fruits frais, pain chaud sorti du four beurre et confiture à disposition, tranches de fromage et charcuterie, fromage blanc et accompagnements, œufs brouillés ou au plat. Si besoin il est également possible de prendre à emporter quelques aliments pour la journée.
Il est aussi possible de cuisiner son propre repas dans la cuisine commune ce qui est très pratique!

Staying at this air bnb was one of the most wonderful experiences on the island. The breakfast we were given every day was so yummy and home made (the hosts will also take special requests). The surroundings were peaceful (levadas, pool, scenery, tropical sounds). The family who runs the air bnb is so lovely and welcoming. They gave us great recs (+ helped us avoid tourist trap restaurants) and we hung out with them quite a bit at the pool and drinking poncha!

Casa dos Reis is quiet and relaxing. Danilo and Luisa made us feel right at home. If you want to get away from mass tourism, this is the place to go. Fresh fruit every morning and eggs prepared exactly the way you like them. So much better than a big hotel.
The pool is a great place to chill after a nice hike and we loved the view of the mountains.
Danilo and Luisa organized a great farewell dinner with friends and music and it's a night I will never forget. This place has a heart and a soul!

Everything was very nice except breakfast. Daily cleaning!
Monotonous breakfasts. The stay was not cheap so we expected better breakfasts. Free maps of the island and recommendations on what to visit would be useful...

Goed voorziene en hele nette kamer. Fijne gast vrouw en heer. Temperatuur van verwarmd zwembad was perfect voor zowel zonnige als bewolkte dagen. Mogelijkheid zelf te koken in de gedeelde keuken. Geen probleem om tot bestemming te komen door de goede wegen. Nadeeltje: Redelijk afgelegen (Wat hoger in de bergen: 400 meter hoogte) waardoor je voor iedere trip 7 minuten moet toevoegen aan je reistijd, maar dit is nodig als je op een plek wil verblijven met de ultieme rust: Ver weg van drukke wegen en toeristen.
Tip: Rij rechtdoor i.p.v. het maken van de 270° bocht die je GPS zal voorstellen en je hebt een snellere en eenvoudigere route.

This place is a cosy and quiet little piece of heaven in the jungly mountains of Ribeira ! I really enjoyed staying there and felt like at home with the super friendly and flexible owners. The pool is really enjoyable and the bedroom has great quality furnitures. The breakfast style is enjoyable where we sit at a big wooden common table and get table served. I really recommend this place !
We never really understood the entrance gate code system, but thankfully we could always open it without for some reasons.......

We loved our stay in Madeira.
The b&b is tucked away in a tranquil valley on the island and is just stunning from the bedroom window to the pool.
The staff and owner at the b&b were super helpful with any requests and they provided recommendations on local knowledge and where to eat.
I guess my only tip or something to those travelling to consider here, getting to the b&b on the roads is not easy if you're not used to driving many hairpins and tight corners on narrow roads. We managed fine and so did others though.

Feels like home.
Wir hatten die Unterkunft gebucht, um von dort aus die Insel mit dem Mietwagen zu erkunden. Wir hatten ein E-Auto, was besonders für die steilen Straßen auf Madeira zu empfehlen ist. Für uns war dieses Haus die perfekte Location. Es wurde sehr hochwertig renoviert und sieht exakt so aus wie auf dem Bildern. In live natürlich noch schöner. Die Gegend ist sehr ruhig - perfekt um am beheizten Pool von der Wanderung zu entspannen. Insgesamt hat uns das Konzept mit 5 Doppelzimmern und einem Studio sehr gefallen. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und wurde täglich sehr gründlich gereinigt. Beim Frühstück sitzt man mit anderen Gästen am Tisch und kann sich über mögliche Sehenswürdigkeiten der Insel austauschen. Besonders möchten wir uns für die tolle Gastfreundschaft von Danilo, seiner Frau und dem Frühstücks-Team bedanken. Sie waren stets fürsorglich und man hat sich direkt wie Zuhause gefühlt :). Wir hatten einen wundervollen Urlaub und können die Unterkunft sehr empfehlen!

Magnifique bâtisse dans les hauteurs de la vallée de Tabua.
Nos hôtes ont le sens de l’accueil, nous avons passé un agréable moment à discuter avec eux.

Daniel and Luisa are amazing hosts.
Very warm, open from the beginning, always there to help you.
Great accomodation, well designed, very well equiped kitchen for everybody to use and on top of that an amazing breakfast every morning, a rare combo and excellent if you dont want to eat out all the time.
The best thing of this place was the slowing down, the quietness, its literaly the last village in the valley, so it feels very local and not a lot of people passing by. Also lovely levada nova walk starts 100m from the hotel, excellent for a 10k run as well. Deff recommend!

Ich war für eine Woche im wunderschönen Casa dos Reis bei Danilo und seiner Frau zu Gast. Ich war mit dem E-Bike (ausgeliehen in Funchal bei "freeride") dort - Du brauchst irgendein Fahrzeug, denn das ruhige B&B liegt auf ca. 400 Metern Höhe im oberen Teil von Tabua, der untere Teil liegt auf Meeresniveau. Meine Woche dort war großartig, viele Radtouren und Wanderungen (Levada Nova direkt vor dem Haus, Rua Madagua hinterm Haus führt in die Berge) starten gleich von dort. Würde jederzeit wieder dort einchecken - das morgendliche "fried or scrambled?" vermisse ich jetzt schon!😀

10 points or nothing!
Bei unserer Ankunft wurden wir sehr herzlich von Danilo (die Seele des Hauses) empfangen, mit dem wir auch sehr schöne Stunden (und seiner Frau Luisa) im sehr geschmackvoll eingerichteten Koch/Wohnbereich verbracht haben während unseres zwölf tägigen Aufenthaltes.
Unvorstellbar was für ein wunderschönes Haus aus einer abrissreifen Ruine entstanden ist.
Das familiäre Konzept dieser Unterkunft hat uns vollends überzeugt.
Man lernt verschiedene Menschen aus unterschiedlichsten Nationen kennen und schätzen.
Beim Frühstück oder am Abend, wenn der ein oder andere den Tag Revue passieren lässt.
Der beheizte Pool (28Grad) ist ein wahrer Eyecatcher des Grundstücks.
Einfach super!
Das ausreichende Frühstück wurde von Heidi und Eva liebevoll angerichtet, die auch für die perfekt hergerichteten Zimmer verantwortlich waren.
An Obst, auch aus dem eigenen Garten, Kuchen, Kaffee und Tee konnte man sich den ganzen Tag bedienen.
Einer unserer besten Urlaube überhaupt.

Very nice stay at Casa dos Reis. The room is really nice and clean. Great view on the mountains, especially from the garden/pool. You absolutely need a car to go around.
