Luxury flat, in historic building, in Funchal city centre.

Verdelho is a full bodied and less acidic grape variety than Sercial. This is one of the grape varieties used for the production of Madeira wine.
Verdelho is part of a group of properties called "The Wine Lodges", located in the heart of the city, in a historic building, which houses one of the most important Madeira wine cellars, owned by the iconic Blandy family.
With a decoration thought to detail, where elegance coexists in symbiosis with the building's history, this property offers excellent comfort and luxury details without equal.
The flat has generous spaces, making it perfect for a family holiday or with friends.
Located on the third floor of the building, in its total area we find a master bedroom with a double bed and a guest bedroom with two single beds. In the spacious living room of this flat we find a sofa bed with capacity for two people.
The property has a balcony with a fantastic view over the bay of Funchal.
This property accommodates a maximum of six people.
Wi-Fi available in all areas of the house.
There is no lift and no private parking.

AREA
The property is located in the noble and central area of Funchal. From this property, you will be able to know all the downtown and main points of interest. This flat is situated right next to the famous Municipal Garden of Funchal and very close to the Funchal Marina and the Municipal Theatre.
In the same building of the property you can visit one of the most important Madeira wine lodges Blandy's Wine Lodges is open daily for tastings and guided tours. In these same lodges you may get to know and purchase a wide range of wines, which you may later pick up at the airport after passing through customs. Guests of this property have one free ticket per couple.
Another must is the bar and restaurant "1811 Wine Bar", which is located in the same building. Here, you can enjoy unique delicacies accompanied by excellent wines. Our guests are granted an exclusive discount in this fantastic space.
In the city centre there is plenty of information about all kinds of activities you can do during your holiday: cultural activities, radical activities, activities linked to nature... whatever the purpose of your visit to Madeira Island!

GETTING AROUND
The best option to get to the property will be the transfer. Ask us to book one with our local partners. It is cheaper than the taxis you find at the airport.
If you rent a car, any navigation app can easily find the address.

ACCESS TO PROPERTY
You have access to all areas of the property.

INTERACTION
We are always available to help or answer questions. We do our best to reply all requests. We also have an app for guests with all the important information about the property and other useful information for your stay.

OTHER OBSERVATIONS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (passport or identity card).
- Check-in hour must be scheduled in advance. If it is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours before, guests will be subject to the availability of our team.
- All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also put a baby cot, a high chair and a baby bath if needed, but you should request. There are a first aid kit, extinguishers and fire blanket in the property.

ATTENTION
Please be advised that a Tourist Fee will be charged to all persons staying overnight in the municipality of Funchal. Thus, all customers staying in tourist resorts and/or accommodation establishments, aged 13 or over, will be charged €2.00 per person/night, up to a maximum of 7 nights and a maximum of €14.00 per person/stay. When you arrive, you will receive a link to pay this municipal tax.

We came across this listing almost by chance and are very pleased that we did! Brilliant apartment above Blandy's wine lodge, very central to Funchal and we were able to get everywhere we wanted to go on foot. Despite the location it was a very peaceful and quiet apartment with a beautiful park just opposite where you could sit and relax, or get a beer in the cafe there. We would certainly consider staying here again on a return visit to Madeira. The only thing to bear in mind is that the apartment is on the 3rd floor and there is no lift.

Location next to the park. Owner was willing to co-opetate due to our concerns.
We could not stay at the apartment because of the lack of smoke detectors, which were supposed to exist (according to the description). Smoke detectors are a basic safety feature, and we won’t compromise on our safety. Also, the apartment needs maintenance. Air smelled strongly humid, and there was no air ventilation, opening the windows did not help. The floor is old and very loud, and needs replacing, the wood is partially rotten and we saw small bugs living in there. The property couls become great if these aspects were taken care of.

Olor fuertísimo del contenedor de basura en el bloque, llega hasta la tercera planta donde tuvimos el apartamento. Insoportable. Entras al edificio y dejas de respirar para no vomitar.
Suelo hace ruido con cada paso.

Location is very central, front of municipal garden. Loads of restaurants, coffee shops, 5 min to supermarket. Thanks to the welcome drinks.
Creaky floorboards. So noisy when you walk day & night. Needs more medium saucepans for boiling pasta etc. only 2 wine glasses.

assenza di personale a cui rivolgersi, se non scrivendo email o telefonando. Pulizia scale e parti comuni totalmente ASSENTE. Appartamento molto bello ma trascurato: uno scarico lavello non funzionante, gruppo idrico cucina traballante, qulache lampadina bruciata, tappeti rovinati e macchiati, presenza di un solo split aria condizionata per cui, viste le temperature estive molto calde, non è stato possibile utilizzare l'ampio e bel salone.

Es súper céntrico y espacioso. La cama es cómoda y la ducha agradable. Tiene todo lo necesario para poder cocinar y te reciben con unas atenciones buen lindas. Nos gustó mucho.
Lamentablemente el suelo hace mucho ruido pero no sé si es algo que sería posible arreglar.
También hay muchos mosquitos incluso sin haber abierto las ventanas. Cuando llegamos la primera noche nos encontramos con varios, no son muy molestos pero tampoco es agradable.
Creo que envían demasiadas notificaciones, esto sí me pareció molesto. Es la primera vez que me toca alojarme en un lugar que antes de hacer check in ta me están pidiendo que avise la hr de check out.

This apartment was large, comfortable, well resourced and in the most wonderful location for flower festival, music festival and a short walk to reach the old town and other cultural areas.

Close to wonderful restaurants and easy access to busses, taxis and cable cars to view the island. Overlooks a beautiful municipal garden. Would highly recommend.
No complaints at all but would advise that there is no lift and if you cannot climb stairs easily then not probably not for you.

We stayed in ‘sercial’ apartment and it was fantastic! Cannot beat the location (it is in Blandy’s wine lodge) and the apartment itself is stunning and overlooks a beautiful park. Was greatful for air conditioning in the bedroom because of biting bugs. Our toddler slept on the foldout couch which was fine for him but would probably be uncomfortable for an adult. The double bed is a bit hard but that is a minor complaint. Overall i was impressed by the standard of amenities for the price in such a central location. We can’t wait to come back! Hosts were also super helpful too, thank you for a great stay xx

The location was superb, but as we already familiar with Funchal, it was what we expected.
There were no towels provided, and even after calls, we were only provided with two bath sheets, which had to last us a whole week.
The coffee machine did not work, part of the washing machine was broken, but we still managed to get it to work eventually.
The lights outside the apartment door did not work, which made operating the entry code on the keypad very difficult, this was reported, but no action was taken during our stay.

Well situated, large, Fifty stairs to climb to reach the room. Poor lighting on landing makes using keypad difficult. No facilities for leaving luggage. Comfortable rooms. Excellent view of the park. Some facilities are lacking e.g. soap in bathroom, plug in sink. Only one towel provided for each person for a whole week. Bathroom smells of drains. Very creaky floorboards. No Welcome pack until requested.You pay for the size, comfort and location but not quality of facilities. We will revisit Funchal again but unfortunately will not be staying in this apartment.

The only thing is that the wooden floors are creaky which might not work if someone has a sensitive sleep (ie kids).

Spacious and central Appartement in the middle of Funchal. Even a kids seat on the toilet!
Some carpets were dirty and we didn’t have a vacuum cleaner to clean them ourselves so after 5-6 days I really wanted to clean the carpet under the table..

The location is in a nice part of town, with lots of great restaurants nearby. For us it was the perfect spot to explore from. The apartment is more spacious then we expected it to be from the photos. We didn't meet the staff, but they were very responsive on whatsapp and I when we wanted to get the private parking last minute they arranged it quickly.
Could have a bit more kitchen supplies for cooking and the rug could be cleaned.

The property is in a perfect location. It is very large , with original features of the building . Bathroom is huge with good shower and water pressure, has his and hers sink. Bedroom has aircon
The main issue we had were the extremely creaky floor boards throughout the apartment. It was so bad that it gets on your nerves. Every step you take makes a very loud creak. If you need to go to bathroom in the middle of the night you can’t do this without waking your partner . I understand the owners want to keep the integrity of the original building by keeping the original floors but I feel that I wouldn’t stay again unless the issue were fixed .

Emplacement exceptionnel en plein centre ville historique de Funchal. l appartement est grand et bien équipé
contrairement à ce qui est indiqué il n y a pas de parking gratuit à disposition. il faut prendre un parking privé pour 10 à 15€ par jour. Attention le parking à proximité est fermé le dimanche et le soir à partir de 20h. il faut aller au parking du centre centre commercial la Vie Funchal Shopping Center. Nous n avons vu personne pendant votre séjour et pourtant nous aurions été satisfait d avoir cette information. … tout se passe à distance.
Nous avons regretté les odeurs d humidite très fortes et le parquet qui grince à chaque pas …

Perfekte Lage und dennoch sehr ruhig. Das Apartment ist wirklich riesig gewesen, man hatte also Platz, sich auszubreiten. Die Ausstattung ist ansprechend und modern und die Betten sind sehr bequem. Die Küche hat auch eine sehr gute Ausstattung und es gibt sogar eine Waschmaschine und Waschmittel und Kaffeekapseln. Ein Geschirrtuch wäre aber noch ganz gut gewesen. Begrüßt wird man mit zwei Flaschen Wein - auch sehr nett! :-) die Kommunikation per E-Mail klappt auch ganz gut.
Insgesamt ist es eher feucht (liegt am Klima, kann keiner was dafür), vor allem im Bad. Lüften bringt nur bedingt was (vor allem Stechviecher :-) )man sollte die Handtücher daher eher im Wohnzimmer aufhängen zum Trocknen, da sie sonst anfangen zu müffeln. Wir haben unsere nach 3 Tagen mal gewaschen, dass sie wieder frisch sind und danach im Wohnzimmer auf dem Wäscheständer aufgehängt nach dem Duschen. das Apartment ist eigentlich für 4 Personen, allerdings gibt es in dem riesigen Bad nur zwei Handtuchhaken.

Die ersten zwei Tage hat es im Haus fürchterlich nach Müll gestunken, weil die Mülltonnen voll waren und die Putzfrauen die Türen zu den Mülltonnen offen gelassen haben. Dadurch hat der ganze Hausflur stark gestunken und das zog bis in unseren Wohnungsflur (Zimmer im obersten Stockwerk). Nach Leerung der Tonnen und Schließen der Türen war es dann nicht mehr so.

Schade fanden wir, dass wir keinen Parkplatz bekamen. ich hatte extra 4 Wochen vor Anreise angefragt, da hieß es, dass es nur geht, wenn einer verfügbar sei und ich solle mich zwei Tage vor Anreise erneut melden. Zwei Tage vor Anreise hieß es dann, dass es nicht möglich sei, aber es wurden zwei Parkhäuser in der Nähe genannt (eines davon direkt neben dem Apartment). Das Parkhaus sowie auch das andere waren jedoch viel zu teuer, um das Auto eine Woche lang über Nacht dort stehen zu lassen (4h knapp 8€). Ich fragte dann erneut nach, ob eine Reservierung evtl während unseres Aufenthaltes doch noch möglich sei, woraufhin die Antwort kam, dass das Parkhaus Santa Luzia (ca 7 Gehminuten; 3,40€ gesamter Tag) die günstigste Möglichkeit sei, in Funchal zu parken. Auf meine eigentliche Frage wurde gar nicht mehr eingegangen. Für uns war das dann mit dem etwas entfernten Parkhaus kein Problem. Die Infos wären aber von Anfang an hilfreich gewesen.

Great location :) Beautiful view on the park from the windows. The apartments have everything you need to prepare breakfast or dinner and enjoy your holidays :) There are a dishwasher and washing machine.
The hosts were very kind and left us fine Madeira wines as a welcome. It was a wonderful holiday. We will gladly return…as soon as possible.

The safe didnt work and the boiler leaked on to the microwave. Carrying heavy luggage up the floors in the heat was a chore. Very noisy from other apartments.

Die Lage ist hervorragend und die Wohnung ist wirklich klasse. Groß, gut sortierte Küche, Betten sind ebenso sehr gut.
Wirklich alles top. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.
Das einzige, was manchmal minimal gestört hat waren die stark knarrenden Bodenbretter. Aber das ist bei dem Haus eher normal.

Great location for getting around Funchal on foot. nicely appointed, comfortable bed, nicely equipped kitchen.
The main outside door didn’t close properly and had to be slammed to lock, the bathroom sink trickled water, the toilet didn’t flush. I received up to 4 emails a day before checking in, but when we needed things fixed there were crickets.

great location and good apartment size with good size rooms.
Carrying a large size bag with more than 20kgs for 3 floors wasn’t pleasant at all. Then almost all the apartment didn’t have AC only the main room. the apartment was extremely hot and the AC is a old one that has the old working model that is not healthy due the fan directions. Then the internet was extremely unstable with constant cuts and for several times I needed to restart the router. overall is not a bad apartment but not a good value/price relationship.
