Praia Formosa gives the name and background scenery to this fantastic apartment, near of the ocean, in the western area of Funchal. The excellent location and the integration in a luxury condo, distinguish this quality apartment, which offers a beautiful infinity pool and jacuzzi. These three infrastructures are shared throughout the condominium.
If you stay in this apartment you will have a calm and memorable evening, thanks to the wonderful sunset, with Praia Formosa and Cabo Girão as a background. It will certainly be a moment to save in your memory.
The property has a bedroom with a double bed and a balcony with sea view and a beautifully decorated living room, with access to the balcony, which offers a wonderful “postacard view”. Finally, the fully equipped kitchen completes the space of this apartment that can accommodate a maximum of four people (two in the bedroom and two in the sofa bed available in the living room).
The apartment is fully equipped with all facilities and has a free parking place.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW
Situated in one of the most prestigious tourist areas of Funchal, this apartment is close to a pleasant seafront promenade, beaches, supermarkets, pharmacies, shops and the Forum Madeira shopping center, which has several international renowned venues and movie theaters.
Nearby there are several bars and restaurants where you can delight in our gastronomy or international cuisine. In addition to the nearby options, you can go to the city center (seven minutes by car) where you will find a wider variety of restaurants.
About a half kilometer from the apartment is the Formosa Beach, suggestive for diving and sunbathing on the pebble and black sand.
GETTING AROUND
For departures and arrivals from the airport, there is an aerobus stop about 5 minutes from the house, although the best option to get to the apartment will be the transfer. Ask us to book one with our local partners. It's cheaper than the taxis you find at the airport!

Guests have access to all areas of the flat.

OTHER OBSERVATIONS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (E.g. passport, identity card).
- Check-in must be scheduled in advance. In case the check-in is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours prior arrival, guests will be subject to the availability of our team.
- All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also provide a crib, a baby high chair and a baby bathtub if needed. First aid kit, fire extinguisher and fire blanket are available in all properties.

Please be advised that a Tourist Fee will be charged to all persons staying overnight in the municipality of Funchal. This apartment is setup perfectly for a couple with ample outdoor patio space (2 total), living dining space, separate kitchen/laundry, and spacey bathroom. The real benefit to this place besides the amazing views of the ocean is the location. Close to great restaurants, a market, beach, fruit stand, bakeries and more. Quick ride to city center and old town. Could not recommend more. You will do some walking on hills and up steps. The whole place is a mountain. Easy to Uber around with very little issue.

I really liked balconies, the view was amazing and the sound of the ocean. Loved the neighborhood! We really liked, that you can go to the beach by a short walk and there was a nice bar. The gym was a bit old and there was no water in jacuzzi(but i understand, that it is not a season now).

Bel appartement avec toutes les commodités et vue superbe sur la mer, garage intérieur facile d'accès. L'appartement était généralement en bon état mais certains détails laissaient à désirer: la chasse de la toilette ne fonctionnait pas parfaitement donc légère odeur d'urine, le nettoyage de la salle de bain à l'arrivée laissait à désirer. L'entrée piétonne se situait à l'équivalent de 7 étages plus bas que la rue qu'il fallait monter à chaque fois pour sortir à pied.

We overall enjoyed our stay at this apartment! Beautiful views and great A/C, grocery store within walking distance, kitchen was well stocked and very handy to have laundry (no dryer) but lots of room for hanging. Pool was lovely.
The place had a few issues, toilet was difficult to flush, shower temperature fluctuated from very hot to freezing cold, and bed was rock hard.
The check in process was a bit challenging, trying to coordinate with the host we required several messages to receive the access codes to the building, etc which were not provided when we checked in person.
If these issues could be resolved, it would be a perfect place to stay in Madeira!

Brilliant location. Communication was great with Catarina who kindly let us store our suitcases in the apartment before check in, allowing us to go for a walk and grab some lunch. Perfect views from the balconies: ocean, mountains, sunset sky… Everything you need in the apartment: from washing machine to coffee making machine. Convenient location to stay for sigthseeing the island as there’s a parking place. If we come back, definitely we’ll choose again. Just a minor notice: you have to regulate the water for several times as it starts running cold or too hot while taking a shower.

Nice apartment. everything is available. lovely, stunning view. Supermarkets are close. Good fallout base for the island. Good and personal website with all the info you want.
however, the temperature of the shower was quite difficult to manage (too hot, too cold, not stable). Although it personal, we didn't like the really uncomfortable and hard matrass.
Long wait at arrival, although we communicated our exact arrival the day before. The guy said our check-in was planned one hour later (we even showed our messages as a proof..). Quick, non polite tour of the apartment and he left after 1 minute.

The apartment was great, lovely views from the balcony. Rooms were clean and tidy and to what we expected. Nice and quiet place. The apartment is in a residential area and was a little bit busier by the pool on a Sunday. That said it was still good. The only downside the mattress on the bed was a little uncomfortable, and the shower was temperamental, but still usable and workable. Bus station nearby and useful, two euros each to take a trip in Funchal, every 10 minutes. You can walk to Funchal but it will take you about 45 minutes, hence using the bus is useful. otherwise, a good place to stay.

Unser Aufenthalt war sehr schön! Wir haben die Zeit in der geräumigen Unterkunft sehr genossen es war alles nötige vorhanden. Küche gut ausgestattet, Waschmaschine, Pool etc. sehr gut. Leider war der Whirlpool kalt und hat nicht funktioniert. Auch der versprochene Spielplatz nicht da. Zudem kann man die Wohnung nur über Treppen oder die Garage erreichen. Sehr steil außerdem, was mit Rollstuhl schwierig sein kann. Das ist nicht barrierefrei. Auch auf den Check-in mussten wir eine halbe Stunde warten, obwohl wir sogar eine Gebühr für späteren Check-in bezahlt haben.
Neben diesen Kleinigkeiten können wir die Unterkunft unbedingt empfehlen. Bushaltestelle direkt an der Straße und auch der Flughafenbus fährt von dort. Strand und Restaurant direkt um die Ecke! Es war eine sehr schöne Zeitn

Wir haben uns Vorort wohl gefühlt und angenehme Tage dort verbracht. Da es eine Wohnanlage ist, gibt es einige Parteien die es mit der vorgegebenen Nachtruhe nicht so sehen. Das war im Großen und Ganzen aushaltbar und nicht durch den Vermieter zu verändern. Unter der Wohnanlage, näher am Strand ist eine Baustelle die Tagsüber bearbeitet wird und sofern man unterwegs ist, keinen störenden Faktor darstellt. Der Pool wird regelmäßig gereinigt und die Wasserqualität geprüft.

Comfortable clean apartment with good facilities in the apartment except for the washing machine which needs reparing! The door was very, very difficult to close when one needs to wash our clothes. God weekly shine up/cleaning like changing of bed linens, etc, etc👍
Have god sea views from both balcony. The complex have a swimming pool, training room and a jacuzzi👍but unfortunately the jacuzzi was not functioning this year☹️👎🏿
God location to everything og good views, both sea and land. Perfect place for long term stay! Stayed here for 4 weeks last year and this year also 4 weeks, but unfortunately not next year because the price have gone nearly double next year which we cannot to come back anymore!

We loved that the apartment had 2 balconies with exeptional ocean views!!! It was clean, functional and beautifully decorated! There was also a swimming "infinity" pool for us to use (although we did not). We did not like that we had to park our car in the underground car park, but it is one of those things one has to accept when staying in towns.

Great apartment and location, the views from balcony were stunning. It’s really well equipped and we liked that mid way through our stay the bed linen/towels were changed and apartment cleaned. We also asked for extra pillows which were supplied the same day. The pool is beautiful but could benefit from more comfortable sun beds and parasols (there were none). Some better explanation around codes for entry to main gate and where to but rubbish/recycling would be helpful. Bus stop right outside including the service to the airport. All in all we really enjoyed staying at the apartment and would definitely return.

The unit is dirty and in terrible condition. We found hair on the bed and in the bathroom, a water leak under the sink and other issues. The parking is very difficult to access.
The place is so bad that we left on the first day, and the host refused to provide a refund.

The balconies offer incredible views of the coastline, you can sit and listen to the waves of the ocean while doing your own thing. There were a few unpleasant moments that spoiled our impressions. There was a long check-in with unclear instructions. We waited up to 30 minutes for the person who brought us the keys and showed us the apartment – this can be fixed with the self check option. Also, it was unclear what code to use to enter the building, and how to get from the parking lot to the floor we needed. Besides, there was a problem with the button on the toilet, which we reported on the first night of our stay. 2 days later, in the afternoon, when we were sleeping at home, plumbers who had separate keys to the apartment came to the apartment without warning. This visit was not coordinated with us, and we were unpleasantly surprised to wake up to 2 men walking around the apartment. It's good accommodation that we really enjoyed, but there is room for improvement in the service.

We deeply apologise that you were woken up by the plumbers and add issues during the check-in.
Our maintenance staff came to the apartment to fix the reported issue with the toilet at arround 4pm. We knocked on the door a few times and waited before coming in. We thought no one was inside as no one answered the door at 4pm.
As you can understand not all properties are fit to have self check in facilities.

We had a lovely stay at this apartment. The accommodation was as described, with beautiful views from the balconies. The pool was lovely, although the hot tub was not in operation during our stay. The apartment is a long walk from the central areas, but there was a regular bus service for the days that we didn't fancy the walk, and there are other nice places to visit near the apartment. We had a wonderful stay and the views from the apartment were amazing and accurately portrayed in the listing pictures. I would recommend this place to other guests. Also, there is fairly steep incline/decline that one must walk to enter/exit the apartment complex which can be an difficult for disable guests or older guests that are not renting a car.

A fantastic apartment with the most amazing views. Idyllic. Such an amazing time. Open top bus tour well worth doing. Check in a little delayed and I needed to call as we were waiting outside. Immediate response from call but would have been good to have been advised that the representative was running late as we were hoping we were in the right place. The apartment was very well equipped. The toilet sadly broke on our last evening so I contacted an Island before we left and had an immediate response that it would be fixed so hopefully all good for the next guests. Would def stay again.

Great place for the price. It not pristine but everything works fine and you have a wonderful view from the balconies. An Island is very professional and helpful, they arranged a cot and baby chair for us at short notice and were always available.
The checkout process doesn't quite work if you have a car as you are supposed to leave the keys you need get out of the garage, and then the premises, in the apartment when leaving. I'm sure this will be taken care of post our feedback regarding it though.

Die Wohnung ist sehr schön und der Ausblick wundervoll, wenn man sich den orangenen Baustellenzaun wegdenkt. Ein paar Abnutzungsspuren gibt es aber dennoch. Die Küchenausstattung ist reichlich, aber ein Teil der wichtigsten Dinge (Messer und Pfannen) ist stark abgenutzt. Ein lautes elektrisches Surren haben wir häufig gehört, das Problem ist aber bereits bekannt. Das Bett war bequem, wenn auch etwas weich. Die Bettwäsche war superweich :) in der Küche gab es ausreichend Spülmittel, Lappen, Spülmaschinentabs und sogar Salz, Pfeffer, Essig, Öl und Kaffeepulver. Der Pool war sauber und gepflegt, allerdings war der Whirlpool leider kürzlich kaputt gegangen. Auf Nachfrage bekamen wir einen Sonnenschirm. In der Umgebung gibt es viele Lokale und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, der Aufstieg von der Wohnung ist steil, aber die Steigung ist auf der ganzen Insel sehr stark. Uns hat der Aufenthalt insgesamt sehr gut gefallen.

We had an incredible stay in Madeira, and couldn’t have picked a better place to stay! The view is unmatched, the infinity pool is amazing, and everything you could need is conveniently located right across the street (convenience store/pharmacy, cafe, lunch spot and grocery store). The bus stop is also right at the entrance, making it easy to get around the island! We loved being able to walk to the beach, which had fantastic restaurants right on the water! Even though we arrived at Midnight, there was someone there to personally greet us and help with check in.
You will not be disappoint led with your stay here! The view alone feels like a dream!

Einfach alles! die Unterkunft ist hochwertig und mit allem ausgestattet. Die Lage und der Ausblick einfach sensationell. Gegenüber der Wohnung gab es auch einen kleinen Supermarkt. Es gab einen Stellplatz fürs Auto und es war ein guter Startpunkt für die Insel-Erkundungen. Der Pool zum relaxen hat uns auch sehr gefallen. -

This apartment was simply the best part of our stay in Madeira. The view from the 2 private balconies was unmatched. We spent many days at the pool. It is a short walk to the beach. However if you want to go into town it is too far to walk but there is a bus stop right outside the building that takes you 20 minutes directly Into town. Only minor inconvenience was check in process, they didn’t provide the details over regular air bnb but rather other a “guest area” link which was difficult to navigate when you are first landing in the country and don’t have a phone plan. It was hard to find their messages on there and therefor when we arrived to property nobody was there to let us in for about 20 mins despite us telling them in advance we would be there at 9pm. But once we found the phone number we contacted the host and came to meet us. Would stay here again absolutely.

Enorm genoten van ons verblijf. De gastheer heeft ons verwelkomd en alles laten zien. Het appartement was zoals beschreven. Voor het appartementencomplex stoppen er meerdere bussen die je naar het centrum van Funchal brengen. Het enige minpuntje was de douche die wat moeilijker te reguleren was waardoor het water meestal te heet was.

Lovely apartment with stunning views. Very clean and comfortable with air conditioning which was very much appreciated. It was a 15 minutes walk to a large supermarket and there are also a few shops across the road from the apartment including a bakery, pharmacy and greengrocer. We very much enjoyed our first visit to Funchal-lots to see and do and reasonably priced.

Apartment is just great. It has everything you need, dishwasher, washing machinr, equiped kitchen, towels, towels for beach.. location is super, close to Formosa beach, not to far from Funchal with bus stop at entrance. If you travel from aeroport with bus it is station 25. Close is bakery, good restaurants and even shopping center Forum. Along the beach is also very nice walking path to camaros de lobos. If we come again to Madeira, we would chose the same apartment. Highly recommend

Die Wohnung hat unseren Erwartungen entsprochen, lediglich das Bad ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Toll sind die beiden Balkone, auf denen wunderbar entspannen kann und die sehr gut ausgestattete Küche. Zu der Wohnung gehört ein Tiefgaragenstellplatz und die Lage ist generell gut geeignet, um die Insel mit einem Mietwagen auf eigene Faust zu erkunden!

The apartment has the best view on the landscape and the ocean. We loved the clean and cozy interior, all necessities for daily live are there. The apartment as well as the whole compelx including the pool where very clean and quiet. At night we did fall asleep with the sound of the waves. There is also a great bakery and a bus stop directly in front of the apartment complex. We loved our stay and will definetly come back.

The apartment was perfect, it was modern and spacious. It had everything we needed and more! The bed was firm but very comfortable and the two balconies were large with a beautiful view. The location of the apartment was perfect for us as just outside of funchal but within walking distance (30mins). It was also super easy to get a taxi to the centre which costs roughly €12. Also a 10 minute walk from the apartment is a shopping centre with restaurants and supermarket. An island apart couldn't have been more helpful when we had questions. We really felt at home in this apartment and didn't want to leave! Thank you for a perfect holiday

Appartement spacieux avec deux balcons et une place de parking. Bonne literie. La résidence est correct. La communication avec l’entreprise en charge de l’appartement était bonne. J’ai eu quelques déconvenues avec l’avion et ils ont été souples concernant l’arrivée.

The apartment is lovely. Well-equipped and really comfortable and the views are just amazing. The location is great as it is away from the downtown tourist area so really peaceful but within easy walking distance. The beach nearby is great for swimming and perfect for an early evening stroll as there are a few local cafes for an early beer or having dinner as the sun goes down. It was bliss swimming in the pool overlooking the sea and An Island were very helpful arranging car hire through a local agency.

Die Lage ist grundsätzlich sensationell. Allerdings geht der Balkon nach Westen, was im Sommer vielleicht sehr nett ist - im Dezember aber leider deutlich zu kalt. Die Sonne kommt erst nach 16:00 Uhr um das Haus rum und geht gegen 18:00 Uhr wieder unter. Der kleine Strand ganz in der Nähe entschädigt aber sehr, da dort am Vormittag Don Sonne ist. Im HO leider nicht hilfreich. Ausrichtung des Balkons

Highly recommend this lovely airy modern apartment with fabulous views. An Island hosts were there to greet us and show us where to park and how to get into the apartment etc. very friendly and welcoming. Both balconies have great views especially lovely to sit with a drink and watch the sun go down. Facility’s with the apartment were all as listed and it was very comfortable. The bed was a king size and firm , very comfortable for us especially being able to fall asleep listening to the sea. It was not hot enough to use the air conditioning. Very steep drive way out of underground parking and apartments but this is normal for Madeira. Our little Fiat 500 made it ok! Easy to get a bus into town or walk (30-40 mins) Local shops adequate and great bakers opposite . Large Supermarket and shopping centre 15 minute walk away. Really lovely break , travelled all over Madeira, loads of walking and a very comfortable flat to return to !

A lovely apartment spotlessly clean about 3 miles from central Funchal which is easily accessible on foot or by a good public bus service. Excellent local shops and restaurants. Quite a hilly area so possibly not suitable for anyone with mobility issues but otherwise can recommend without reservation. Local agents are very good- there if you need them and not if you don’t!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Vila Formosa. The condo itself was great for 2 people - well decorated, nice kitchen, stunning views. There is a supermarket about 10 minutes walking distance as well as bar/restaurant options. It's located a bit outside of Funchal, but there is a bus stop directly in front of the condo and the bus ride is only 10 - 15 minutes. We found this to be a great home base for day trips to explore other parts of the island - and it was really nice that we had a reserved parking spot in the garage for our rental car!

Fantastic apartment on the outskirts of Funchal. Excellent complex with brilliant views and very clean and secure. The apartment was spotless with absolutely everything required for a great self catering holiday in Madeira. Communication with Travel to Madeira was excellent and we would recommend using their transfers. Having the Bus Stop right near the complex was excellent for travelling around into Funchal. We will be returning to this apartment and would highly recommend it to anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Travel to Madeira's unit. The unit was exceptionally clean, well equipped with amenities and had all comforts of home but with an AMAZING view. Loved the enjoying our coffee's and wine on the balcony and morning views from bed. Location is a good walk from the downtown core of funchal but a bus stop with regular stops is right outside the front gates. Great coffee across the street, and great 'locals' restaurant - Beer Garden - just a 10 minute walk away. We feel very luck to have been able to stay at this unit for part of our trip and will definitely look forward to returning some day.

Fantastic apartment in a very good quiet location. Very clean and nicely decorated, spacious , equipped with everything you need for the comfortable stay. Gorgeous view from the both balconies , a very nice infinity pool. Good public transportation to the city centre , but if you rent a car you can safely park it in the garage. Easy check in and out. The host team is always ready to help. I would definitely recommend this apartment to all my friends.

This is a very stylish modern apartment that was very clean and well stocked in the kitchen for cooking. The air conditioning was also a real bonus as it was a very humid night. The pool was very nice and was not too busy. The slope leading to the apartment entrance is very steep with quite a few steps so would not suit everyone but we managed OK and felt very safe in the complex which is well lit with an electronic security gate at the front. It is quite a long way into the main centre of Funchal (25 mins walk) or 10 minutes in a taxi but we would stay again if we returned to beautiful Madeira.

Equipe sympathique attentionnée à l'ecoute, même le dimanche. Tchat tres reguliers pour nous demander nos impressions sur notre sejour et nos besoins. Appartement avec une deco tres soignée, trés trés bien equipé, et offrant une vue splendide sur la piscine et la mer. La residence est tres propre, piscine et abords nettoyés tous les jours, tres calme, surveillée, avec un reglement strict ( ballons et bouées interdits au niveau de la piscine et de la residence: petit bemol!). Une salle de sport et jacouzzi ( petit plus). L'ile de madere regorge de pepites, une vegetation luxuriante, de magnifiques randos à faire, des coins magnifiques à visiter, on y mange tres bien pour des prix imbattables, les maderiens sont extrement gentils. Ce nest pas pour rien que l'ile a ete elue "meilleure ile du monde" plusieurs années de suite. Je recommande la destination et l'appartement. Nous reviendrons sans aucun doute.

The apartment was perfect for our needs (family of four) and the location was great with nice views towards Praia Formosa and Cabo Girão. The apartment had everything we needed and everything worked well. Communication with the Travel to Madeira team was very swift and they were most helpful. We loved the pool and appreciated the garage as we rented a car. We have rented apartments through AirBnB several times and this was definitely one of the best experiences. Thank you! We will return!

Fiquei no alojamento Vila Formosa I durante quatro noites e foi uma estadia realmente incrível. O alojamento está muito bem localizado, totalmente equipado, com uma piscina fantástica. A vista desde o alojamento é sensacional!! Superou as minhas expectativas.
Além disso fui muito bem acolhida durante o check-in, também o serviço de transfer que sugere a empresa é muito bom, dado que dias antes da chegada já é possível agendar o serviço de chegada ao alojamento.
Tenho a certeza que, quando voltar à Madeira vou voltar a reservar o alojamento, recomendo 100%

We had a comfortable stay in a luxurious flat with a shared pool. ... and jacuzzi! The view is incredible. The sunset over Cabo Girao was breathtaking from both balconies. The flat was superclean and the kitchen has all the utensils you need. It is close to Praia Formosa beach and its bars and Forum Madeira is also nearby. There are busses running into Funchal from the street above and it is not far to the capital with your own car. We enjoyed our stay very much. Communication was great...

Amazing place, pictures don't do this place justice. Great communication from the get go, easy check in. Not directly in Funchal centre, which was a good things because it meant the apartment was nice and quiet at night. You can walk on the beach side promenade every evening and have drinks right by the sea. Having dinner on one of the two balconies and watching the sun set was a wonderful way to relax after a hard day hiking. Supermarkets close by with in 10 minutes walking distance. Everything was just perfect. The place was spotlessly clean and had loads of kitchen utensils for cooking. Thank you so much for letting us stay. We will be sure to recommend you and join you again on our next visit to Madeira.

We spent a couple of wonderful days in this appartement and had our 1-year old daughter with us. The kitchen is fully equipped, you have two balconies, a washingmachine, aircond, pool, garage, etc. and everything is very well maintained and nearly new. I can absolutely recommend staying there!

We have just come back from a week stay and I cannot fault it, the apartment is beautiful, clean and well equipped. The location is perfect if you like things a bit quieter. The center is a short bus ride away or a long walk, which is very pleasant. There are local shops and restaurants nearby, with a large shopping centre with a very large supermarket 15 mins walk way. All in all a beautiful week away, we will definitely be visiting again!

We stayed at Vila Formosa for a week. The apartment is tastefully decorated, clean, and well equipped. We were told there is only a washer in the the apartment no dryer, but it turned out the washer and dryer is in one unit. It is very convenient especially when travel with young children. The view is amazing, we enjoyed having breakfast on the patio overlooking the mountains and ocean. The location of the apartment is great( if you have a car). Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Vi hadde et supert opphold her på ei uke. Vi hadde med en 7 måneders baby, og hadde alt vi trengte. De stilte med barneseng, dyne, barnestol, badebalje og eget håndkle til barnet. Fin beliggenhet, med kort gåtur til Forum Madeira (madeiras største kjøpesenter, med matbutikk), bakeri og gode restauranter i nærheter. Vi leide bil, og parkerte den i parkeringskjelleren på huset. Stranden er rett nede ved leiligheten, og der kan man gå en fin gåtur langs havlinjen til Camara de Lobos bay, tar litt i underkant av en time hver vei. og sist men ikke minst, det beste med leiligheten; utsikten fra balkongen!

We had a lovely month in Vila Formosa. The apartment is well situated away from the centre of town but with easy access and close to and overlooking the sea with a spectacular outlook. There are very good local shops and a large andbusyshopping centre is only a ten minute walk away. We found a number of excellent bakeries coffee shops and restaurants in the network of local streets where you could eat very well and relatively cheaply. Access to the main road from the property is only 100 or so yards away but is up anumber of steps and then quite a steep slope which might be a problem for anyone with mobility issues but we managed fine and we are in our 70s and have already decided that a return visit next year is a distinct possibility

A lovely well equipped flat in a super area with a beautiful outlook. Apartment is about 2 miles from centre of Funchal but there is a good local bus service and it is quite a pleasant walk in too - we did it several times and we are in our 70s. We stayed in the local area a lot of the time and found some great coffee shops/bakers (Viana in particular) and local restaurants all of which provided excellent value for money. There is a small supermarket across the road which is excellent for fresh produce and a large shopping centre ( the Forum) with a large supermarket just 10 minutes walk away. We stayed a month and enjoyed every minute of it. One small cautionary note ; the access to the main road where everything is situated is only 100 yards or so but I quite steep and may not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

The apartment in Vila Formosa was perfekt for me and my wife. The standard is very high with a fully equipped kitchen and a very nice living-room. The view from the bedroom is spectacular with Praia Formosa ( black pebble beach) and the Atlantic in the foreground and Cabo Girao (a 580 m high cliff) in the background. The apartment is in a complex of buildings with a lot of great common areas such as swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and gym. The location is also great, about 5 km west of the center of Funchal.
