THE NEIGHBOURHOOD AND THE SURROUNDING AREA
This house is located in a privileged central area, right in the heart of the city of Funchal. At 15 minutes walking distance from the Lavradores Market and the Old Town of Funchal, from here you can explore on foot the several touristic points of our beautiful city (e.g. Cable Car, Funchal Marina, CR7 Museum, Sé Catedral, Madeira Wine Lodge, etc...)
TRANSPORTATION
With a bus stop in the vicinity (five minutes away), transport will not be a problem for our guests.
For departures and arrivals from the airport, there is an aerobus stop about seven minutes from the house, although the best option to reach the apartment will be the transfer. Ask us to book one with our local partners. It is cheaper than the cabs you find at the airport!

OTHER REMARKS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid identification document (e.g. passport, identity card).
- Check-in must be scheduled in advance. If not booked within a maximum of 48 hours, guests will be subject to our staff's availability.
- All bed linens and towels are provided. We can also place a crib, high chair, and baby bathtub if needed. There is a first aid kit, fire extinguishers and fire blanket at all properties.

I would say that overall the experience was super good! The appartment was perfectly clean, with all conditions, great location and good environment. I just have to point that the sofa is terrible and it shouldn't be suggested as an option for sleeping.

El apartamento es bonito, cómodo, tiene todo lo que necesites, incluso ropa de cama y toallas extra, está muy bien ubicado, cerca de todo y el edificio q es todo de apartamentos, es tranquilo. Loved the location, the street and the layout of the property. Loved that it has a washer and dryer. Not super comfortable. The couch was really not comfortable at all and the bed also not super comfortable but then again I think that’s a European thing. Appreciated the fans and the AC. Liked the equipped kitchen. There was an odd smell as you entered the place, mildew kind of at the entrance to the building.

No comment We had a late check out because the lock was broken, which is weird, since check out is at 12, but next check in is at 4 and they could not manage it between these hours.
The room was cold and later we understood that he window was broken, therefore it was extra loud and cold. When I contacted the staff about it, I received an answer that it is not possible to fix the window fast and the staff did not even apologise for that.
The room didn't feel very clean, TV was foggy and the apartment just needs basic renovation since everything is so used.

Great location and good communication overall.
The place is older and not as well kept as we expected. There were noticeable stains on the couch and old. We weren’t able to on the couch much as the cushion kept sliding out.
This place also has an odour that was not pleasant and the host did provide an air freshener and (a toilet bowl cleaner) without informing us, which was alarming when we returned.
Lastly, the air conditioning was not functioning during our stay and the host did provide a fan (again without notice). However without the AC, the unit was always damp and things were never fully dry.

Good location. Good sized apartment. The kitchen had everything we needed. After check in someone from the staff entered the apartment without knocking or calling out to let us know they entered. As they opened the door to the bedroom they found us changing clothes and scared us. We communicated this to the reception as soon as it happened and they promised to get back to us. However they did not and later in the week they claimed not to have received such complaint when we pointed this out.
We found some sort of bug that looks very similar to bedbugs.
Bedsofa was uncomfortable to sit on.

We had a lovely 3 night stay here. It’s a great apartment with everything you need. The bed is comfy and it’s nice to have a view out over the street. It’s situated in a perfect location to walk to bars/restaurants and the centre and marina. A lovely stay in a lovely place, would recommend.

The apartment is in a fantastic location, close to lovely restaurants and bus routes.

Very central location, quick access to Funchal old-town. Apartment provided all necessary things like a cooking opportunity and cutlery, etc. The neighbourhood was a bit lively sometimes so it was not possible to open the windows at night due to noise. However, this was to be expected due to the central location of the apartment.

Wir waren mit unseren beiden Kindern (4 Jahre / 7 Monate) da un es hat uns gut gefallen. Die Lage in der Altstadt direkt am Stadtpark war ein Traum. Kritik haben wir nur bezüglich des sehr durchgelegenem Schlafsofas, des fehlende Kinderstuhls und weil die Türverriegelung mehrmals Probleme machte. Hier sollte direkt eine ordentliche Beschreibung an die Hand gegebem werden, denn die Wartung der Schließanlage hat uns mehrmals einige Stunden gekostet. Wir würden dennoch wieder kommen.

This is a beautiful little apartment in the great location. It has everything you need (and more) in terms of space, equipment, furniture and amenities. Place was clean and modern - perfect for a couple but it also could definitely be suitable for three guests as there is a sofa bed. Location of the place is ideal - lots of cafes and restaurants around and only a couple minute walk from all the crucial and ‘must-see’ places in Funchal. I’d definitely come back to this place and recommend it to others.

Bardzo dobry kontakt z właścicielem, że względów organizacyjnych. mogliśmy opuścić apartament 1,5 godziny później, raz w tygodniu serwis sprzątający. Perfect location, close to everything. There is a beautiful little park around the corner, and a supermarket nearby. The apartment is as it looks in the pictures. Small but nice. The cleaning service is great when you stay longer. There is no dishwasher. The narrow street can be a bit loud, but everything closes at 22:00. Does get occasional traffic also at night. The building is generally very quiet, but noise does travel under the door from the stairwell. Mattress is on the hard side. Communication and service from the rental organisation is excellent and quick.

This Airbnb is a great place to stay. It‘s right in the city center! Check-in and check out went well, communication was also great. The Airbnb company provides a variety of services (taxi, things to do/booking referrals, events in Madeira) with their own system. All in all everything was great!
Two things I recommended the team to improve on: 1. Change the doorknob of the bathroom as it’s quite difficult to open the door with it and 2. Add a shower door so the floor doesn’t get wet or water leaked out when showering or provide a rug so the water doesn’t wet the bathroom floor.

nous avons aimé son emplacement proche du centre il y avait des travaux SUPER bruyants en continu de 8h du matin à 17h le soir, même les fenêtres fermées on ne s’entendait pas parler. Le service client n’a pas été réactif du tout quand on a demandé remboursement pour changer d’appartement ils nous ont répondu 4 jours après presque à la fin de notre séjour et sans aucune empathie en nous stipulant que s’agissant de travaux privés ils n’étaient pas dans l’obligation de nous en informer et que les ouvriers travaillaient selon l’horaire légal donc nous n’avions rien à dire. pas de porte manteau

Excellent apartment in a great location. Very clean and neat, the check in worked very well with the automatic locks. Bed linens and towels were very clean and of good quality. Since we stayed there for 11 days, a mid-stay clean up was included. There are many apartments managed by An Island Apart in the building, I strongly recommend for short or long stays.

Absolutely excellent apartment. However the hot water may have a problem. It would only last 5mins when having a shower. For two people the second person would have a cold shower for sure. They have fantastic customer service so I imagine this would be fixed immediately once they see this review.

A company shows it's true colours when something goes wrong. How they deal with and solve a problem shows their quality. In this case, when something went wrong (the aircon not working) the response was a complete fail. A pity, as the apartment is basically a nice apartment with uncluttered decor and a good location.
On Saturday 15.08 around 20:30 I messaged the staff that the aircon was not working. I got no response for about an hour, so I called to follow up. The staff asked me to check the aircon in the apartment next door. I did so and informed that the aircon was also not working there . The staff member response was "We'll call technician tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience". The staff member offered no solution for the evening, accepting that I would have a sleepless night in the hot apartment. The staff member did not answer further messages from me.
An expression of regret, while nice, is not a solution. An appropriate solution could have been any of the following
1. "We'll send a technician around to fix it now"
2. "We'll give you a different apartment with working aircon tonight, and help you move"
3. "We don't have an alternative apartment with aircon available, we'll book you somewhere else with aircon tonight at our expense and help you move".
I contacted booking.com as there was no resolution. Booking.com customer service could not resolve the situation as the staff member only answered their phone once and did not provide booking.com staff with any solutions.
In order to avoid a sleepless night, I booked an inexpensive, small room with aircon at the closest hotel. As the property was in breach of contract by not providing aircon, it should pay for this. To date they have refused to do so.
I left next day.
My advice to other travellers: Book here at your own risk and peril. If things go well, then fine. If something goes wrong, my experience is that this company will not fix it. Certainly not in a pleasant way with a smile.

This apartment has everything you need, perfect location, quiet area even if there is the street outside, comfy bed. I loved to stay here! Just a small thing, the security chain/lock was broken and couldn’t be used in my apartment. Even though this feels like a safe area and house, I’d like to be able to ’lock’ my door from the inside...

We had a wonderful week in Funchal and the city was easy to reach from the apartment. Everything was within a walking distance. Many nice cafes and a lovely park just around the corner. The apartment was clean and very good equipped. The kitchen was compact and had everything we needed. The shower was also very good. It was a bit humid in the apartment after showering. It was easy to communicate with Travel to Madeira and they always answered quickly.

Fantastic location right in the middle of everything. A stylish and clean apartment with everything you need for a short stay. The washing machine and dryer was a bonus. The lady who met us was charming and very helpful. We would certainly stay here again.

The apartment was in an amazing location in the city centre and was therefore walking distance from everything we needed. Great space with a fully equipped kitchen. Communication was great and we received instant replies to any queries we had. Would 100% recommend!!

Excellent apartment in a great location. Easy and safe walking to promenade, bus, old town, supermarket and hundreds of restaurants! Clean and modern, with kitchen, air-conditioning and laundry room on same floor. We had transport to and from airport organised and were met and shown apartment by very helpful staff (Catarina!) who we could contact at any time. We couldn't fault this apartment. No comment

The Downtown Funchal apartments were everything that we wanted from any apartment. The very friendly greeting from Filipa was only matched by the knolaged that was passed on by here for places to go. The apartment was spacious and clean and the added bonus of a cleaner coming in mid week was lovely. We will most definatly be making sure to stay here again. Thankyou

This is a perfect location! It is quiet bright, white, clean, perfect!
